@Imtep if we lived close ,I would take you out for a nice lunch, and perhaps a bit of shopping just because
I hope at some point you will have this...

No, it doesn't matter to me. My dad was a firefighter and DH was career military. I rarely celebrate any holiday on that day. But always happy to be remembered.

@Goodie2shoes .............Im happy for you! Please don let the negative Nellies spoil it for you. Most can find something to whine about. The negatives/haters are not going to be happy until all the happiness is sucked out of the rest of us and we are as miserable as they are.

Nope--used to it!!

Too bad there are some here that can not let others be happy

@rms1954 ............I too was raised by a mean, hateful mother. She also physically abused me and my brother. That laid a foundation for me when I left home at 18 and made very poor choices for years in my life, never realizing what was wrong.
I give you a big hug!

@catwhisperer wrote:@Goodie2shoes....what a sweet, thoughtful man you have. Enjoy and appreciate your early gifts. This is the first Valentine's day in decades that I will not be receiving flowers/gifts, as my DH died several months ago.
@catwhisperer ...I am so sorry for your loss. You know if your DH was with you on Valentine's Day he would be giving you flowers and/or gifts, but because he is with the angels now he is wishing you Happy Valentine's Day from afar. God Bless you and keep you well.

i think celebrating LOVE on any day you choose is a wonderful thing......and it doesnt matter if it is your husband, s/o, partner, children, friends, family.
i dont let a holiday like valentines day make me feel good or bad.......i make my own days of love throughout the year by doing extra special things for those i love.

Dear @catwhisperer and others who have lost spouses. You probably look back at the ups and downs, and would give anything for one more Valentine's Day. On the rare occasion that my DH exasperates me, I realize he is the best thing that ever happened to me. With all the internet con artists preying on the lonely, I can't imagine how difficult it is navigating a new romance. He's my one and only!
