Thanks for all of the positive responses. I must say this: I know what it feels like to be in a unhealthy relationship because for 40 years I dealt with someone who's idea of valentine's day was to buy a card, throw it across the table to me and say here's your card. It was not something he really wanted to do but it was what he was supposed to do. That man is the father of my 2 children. I still wonder sometimes why I stayed in the relationship but I have totally forgiven him and my adult children don't even know of some of the things he did to me. I could write a book ! The Lord has now blessed me with a wonderful man and I truly believe it's because I have forgiven and moved on. I say a prayer for my x everyday. So in no way would I want to make anyone feel like I was trying to make others uncomfortable with my post. Thanks again

In my post I forgot to say before this marriage I was married to a total narcissist for twelve years. Very selfish and mean person. For some reason I needed to say this. You never know who’s waiting for you.

We are probably unusual but neither of us make a big deal out of these artificial observations. Every day is like Valentine's Day for us.

Timing doesn't matter to me, it's the thought. I booked us a hotel stay over Valentine's Day instead of the usual dinner out.

@Leggett28 Oh, I am sure you and your wonderful Husband have been together in many many lives prior.....❤️

That is so sweet and so romantic. Keep that guy! I think it's lovely that he surprises you with your Valentines Day gifts early, you get the enjoy them for two days before the big day and then you get celebrate again with a nice dinner. No that would not bother me at all.

Would it really bother anyone to get a Valentine's day or Birthday or any other gift a few days early? If it would, I think that would be a problem.
To me, a gift is a gift, but like another poster said, it matters more to me how I am treated throughout the year.

@rms1954 You touched my soul sharing what you did. My mother lived a similar life and found joy thankfully. What a beautiful person you are wishing all of us love. You are the person who loves through respect, kindness and compassion. You deserve all the love and good things back 💖
