We first ate at a Culver's while travelling in Wisconsin, had to be more than 20 years ago, and it was great!  When one came to our Illinois town a few years later, we were very pleased, and do eat there occasionally. I don't, however, like their ice cream, but I'm alone in that in my family.

I live(d) in the town where Steak & Shake started, and that's where we usually eat. Constant coupons, and 1/2 price milk shakes and drinks from 2pm to 5pm weekdays.

Both, IMO, better than DQ. JMHO.

I like their frozen lemonade in the summer.

So do I, but I like to add raspberries to the mix.

The frozen lemonade is carb friendly?  @deepwaterdotter

There’s a Culver’s near me in AZ.  I like it but the food quality is inconsistent.  My new favorite “fast food” restaurant is the chicken tenders at Raising Cane.

@I was born and raised in the town where Steak and Shake originated, @summerwind. Many happy memories of eating there

I moved to the SW in the mid 70s. Culvers is here. Love the walleye sandwiches.

@Ms tyrion2, my ex worked at the original building in high school. Carried meals out to the cars. No, not on rollerskates. I don't remember quite where it was, but it is no longer in use as S&S, but there is more than one in town now, maybe 4?, not sure. I lived there for 40 years, just recently moved to a small village west of there.  You wouldn't believe how the town has changed, and IMO only, not for the better. Couldnt wait to get out. Nice to shop there, tho.

OP, sorry for the momentary hijack.

I still have family in the area @summerwind. I haven't been back for several years, but maybe this summer for a reunion with high school friends. What are the bad changes?

@Ms tyrion2, now, this is just how I perceive things. Bigger isn't always better. When we bought our house in '82, edge of town. Now it goes east another mile or two. Major employers left, one because the airport was too small. (The next year, they made it bigger, but because of the construction, the air show moved to Peoria and stayed. We attended every other year, and could see most of it from our neighborhood.)

There's a lot more, but this thread is about Culver's, and it's a very good thread, don't want to sidetrack it. Many probably aren't bothered by the changes, but I'm not a big-town person, in the end. My new village has 1300 people Smiley Happy. Everyone (except my next-door neighbors, go figure) waves, or speaks, like at the post office. Not all the rules and regs of a major metro area.

I think you'll have a good time, if you do get to visit. The malls have changed, but there's still good shopping. Never went there recently anyway.

Thanks @summerwind.

I moved to an extremely large metro area, which is what I wanted.  Different strokes!  Woman LOL

We spend a lot of fall weekends in Indiana.  They are a few Culver's in the area.  We've never eaten there but have stopped many times of ice cream.
