@BrandiDavis   Yes, China dominates pharmaceuticals worldwide, this has been their intention for many years.  It has been proposed by our administration, even before this virus, the dangers of this status both monetarily and for our health.  Maybe, in the long run, this crisis (that we will overcome) will give more creditability and impetus to bringing this industry back to the US.

@Lipstickdiva   We all know there are no drugs to actually cure the corona virus, but drugs are given to reduce the symptoms and make one comfortable.

@Mominohio   I agree with you totally.  For years I have been saying that the US should be  manufacturing our much needed products here.  We should not be dependent on any country for our food or Meds.

Those products could be sabotaged.

I don't know if it is possible to bring back what we sold off to China.  It infuriates me to think what the pharmaceutical giants did for the sake of profits for their investors and kept it up at this cost to the world.   My doctor said in passing, before this virus issue occurred, that all China has to do to bring us to our knees is simply stop sending generic medications.  Then anything on hand will be gathered for the military, everyone else will be out of luck.

We had one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the world in this town. It is where everyone worked for generations. All manufactured here. Yes, I know what it’s like to have drugs made in America.

Re: Covid-19 In my county now

I will be totally honest. I've been scared from the get-go about this virus, BEFORE it even was in the U.S. I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before it was here, but I feel like it wasn't taken seriously, so here we are trying to back-track.

Now, that being said....what I'm MOST worried about is the fact that there is a REAL possibility that ALL of our medications (90% +) will be withheld from us. THAT would be a pandemic of EPIC proportions and cause turmoil like we've never seen. I am praying that it never comes to that, but from what I"ve been reading it is a possibility. I really hope those in power can negotiate something to make sure that doesn't happen.

Also, not sure if you heard that they are saying they think it was the U.S. military that brought coronavirus over there. So, if they are already blaming us for this virus, it makes the threat of withholding meds even more worrisome.

Sorry, not trying to worry anyone, but everyone should be aware of this.

@Carmie   Yes, and we offered China help which they refused....twice.  Even though this is the case, right now we need to focus on getting healthy  not blame.  Amazing that China would offer such an absurd statement, especially at a time when all nations should be focusing on resources to recover.  Our country is stepping up to the plate and addressing the critical issues at hand....we will make it through this.

I read this morning..source, Fox News, that China is now threatening to cut off much needed drugs that are used to treat the Coronavirus to the US and the West.

All of the components used for these drugs are made in China too, so the US is not able to manufacture them on our own.

@Carmie  Oh wow. Now, THAT is scary :-( :-( :-( I really hope that isn't true. My anxiety just went from a 10 to 10 million :-(

@BrandiDavis@Carmie , There are no drugs to treat Coronavirus.

@Lipstickdiva  I know that, but there still are meds administered for supportive care.

Yes, I agree.  China should never ever been manufacturing our meds.  My eyes were opened up when those several blood pressure meds were recalled.  In addition, to the most recent diet drug, diabetes drug, zantac, and who knows what others!  People need to be informed and ask their pharmacist when they go where they're prescription is coming from.  Sadly too many from China though.  If anything  we need to take from what's going on now is a big lesson and we need to demand our meds and more goods be manufactured back on our soil.
