Had planned to visit family in NJ, however after hearing it's one of the higher gas priced areas along with shortages that are going being anticipated present this summer , well I may forgo my travel . I cut back on my volunteer days as the price of gas is up . I don't ever want to sit in gas lines again. Lived through this back in the day . Have been keeping my vehicles filled fully as the price just goes up and up every week.
My area in Md range $4.96-$4.80 gallon Reg 87% octane.

We're at $5 a gallon now. It is what it is. Complaining about it serves no purpose, I fill up my gas tank and go.

Well, in SoCal the costs are so horrifying that I now "top off" my tank when it gets down to 3/4 full. I tell myself that it isn't so bad when I'm only getting a quarter of a tank at a time.
Last week, my favorite cheap station was $5.95. Today, that same station was $6.31.
And it's supposed to be getting up to 95-100 degrees the next few days. I'm going to stay home and read.
That is the exact reason why I fill up once a week when I get down to 1/2 a tank of gas. It's to stop me from having cardiac arrest, if I was ever on empty and had to fill it up.
My boss has been driving one of his kids cars a Honda Accord, versus the big suburban that he normally drives. He is also a firm believer in waiting until the light comes on before getting gas. He went to fill up the other day and the pumps out here automatically shut off at 100.00 dollars. The pump shut off.
Nope!! I just cannot see that price. Let me bury my head in the sand.

Well, he either has a very short memory or needs to get a neurological checkup. If he waits until his tank is empty, and we are suddenly having another gas shortage, he's going to be in trouble.
I'm sure many here remember when there were long lines for gas and even the days you could get gas were restricted by whether your license plate ended in an even or odd number.
Not for me .... I am going to try to keep my tank as full as possible ... and drive a LOT less.

I remember back then, but I was living in Europe. What I recall most was how Americans were crying about how gas was $1 a gallon. Meanwhile, where I was, it was over $1 per LITRE!
I just hope this is somehow fixed at some point soon.

Gas is $5.09 where I live in NJ. I still have half a tank. Can't imagine what it will be when I get gas next week. Scary almost afraid to drive.

Average price of gas in New Jersey is $5.04 as of 6/10/2022.

6/9/22 .... gas north of Chicago....$5.88 regular...$6.28 plus....$6.78 premium! Under $5 seems cheap to me now.
