Re: Cost of Gas Where I Live

Tinkrbl44,  I lived in So Cal then and was in the gas lines with you.  I used to get up at 3 AM on my day and sit in line until the station opened because the were running out of gas.  If this keep up they are not going to be able to give SUV's away!

@Tinkrbl44

My boss it only a year older then me and we are both in our mid 50's. I remember being a kid and sitting in my moms Volkswagen Bug in those long lines to get gas on odd or even days. As a kid it was beyond boring.

I have come to conclusion that he is just lazy when it comes to taking care of  his automobile. A few days ago a decent size group of us went to happy hour after work for an employee that is leaving. When we head out to the parking lot after work.  He is at his car and the rear tire is completely flat. Not low on air. I mean completely flat. I have that Sun Joe Air Compressor, so I showed them how to use it and a few of us stood around while it was filling up. He say's my light has been on for the past two days. I just have not had time to check it out. What????

Re: Cost of Gas Where I Live

Southern California ranges from 6.37-6.65 for regular depending on which gas station.

Just awful - nothing is being done, prices are going up every couple of days.  What used to cost $75 to fill up my truck is now $150+.

......You look like I need a drink.....

Re: Cost of Gas Where I Live

Saw an interview on one of my local news stations with a gas station owner. He shut his pumps down and said he's out. Said he can no longer deal with the price gouging by oil companies. That's what he said it is. He had been in business for a very long time so he knows.

i have to go down the mountains a few mile to get to civilization.  always make it a productive trip.  i save up my errands.  yesterday i went to town as i had 5 stops/errands.

i have always done this no matter where i am.  never just run out for something.

i didn't jump on the extra freezer bandwagon a couple years ago because i had no issue with finding foods.  i was flexible with brands and slight recipe changes.

however, now the prices of gas and food has me convinced i need to purchase a stand alone freezer.  my huge side by side fridge is full.   last week the grocery had sirloin steaks 4.98 lb reg 7.98 lb.  could not buy much as i have no room.  this weeks sales are also good london broil, boneless chicken breasts. grrrrrrr

the medium chest freezers are reasonable '(around $500) and cost about $25 a year to run.

i can lessen my trips even more and take deeper advantage of great sales.   the freezer will pay for itself in a very short time.

Great idea - hope you aren't affected by the predicted rolling blackouts of electricity.
