Consumer Reports: Wegmans is #1...

place to shop for groceries. Trader Joe's came in #2. Walmart came in dead last. I go to Wegmans at least twice a week...my local food co-op once a week and TJ twice a month or so...it's farther away. Wegmans always has cake or some other goodie to celebrate when they do well on consumer surveys...I bet they will really be celebrating this weekend!

I was surprised that Wegmans did so well on price...I know they advertise price points a lot...but it appears to be true!

What do you think about the rankings????

Thats good to hear Terrier I go to Shop Rite. Can't beat the prices for my area but if I am in the area of a Wegmans I will stop in. They are lovely stores.

We live near a Wegman's and I am not surprised at all that they are number 1, I do like that they give you choices as far as whether you want organic or not and the store is easy to navigate. I shop there all the time.

When we used to camp in Erie we went to Wegmans for groceries and for the worlds absolute best hoagies. I am glad they won this as it is a great store - though i never thought they had very good prices, but the quality of products like fresh produce and meats was way above average. I wish we had Wegman's here in Fl.

Wegman's is just coming into my region with 3 new stores and a few more in development. I've been a few times and I love the store, but there is a local supermarket chain that has Wegman's beat as far as prices. I thought Wegman's was very expensive, unless the items are on sale. I will go back, though, as it's a very cool store. I'm trying to eat more organic fruits and veggies and they have a wonderful produce department.

Re: Consumer Reports: Wegmans is #1...

I have had issues with Wegman's, so I don't shop there anymore .... they are becoming way too pricey and I have trouble finding name brand items. It seems that they are trying to push their own brand (which is OK) but should still have other brands available... The last time I was in there, the cashier was totally miserable .... and carried on a conversation with the cashier next to her .... so much for their customer service that they like to brag about!

I used to think Wegmans was higher priced too...but the results are in - they are actually one of the most affordable stores.

I wish we had Wegmans or Publix (ranking number three on the survey). The closest Publix is three hours away, and I cannot justify the trip to shop there. We do have Trader Joe's and Costco (ranked number four), and we go to each a couple of times per month. In between those trips, I generally shop with a small local chain which does not have the best prices, but they do have great service and deliver groceries.

I generally shop all my perishables at Sprout's or Central Market....and the Kroger store in my neighborhood is clean and decently priced for most things on my regular shopping list.

I live 45 minutes from 2 Wegman's. Usually go once every 2-3 weeks to shop for meat, produce, baked goods etc. So much better quality then the two grocery stores I have close to me.
