Take pictures of the items you wish to consign. My daughter did not take pictures of her consigned items, and without that proof was cheated out of a nice sum of money on several of her nice items.

I don't deal with those places anymore because I think they are a rip-off. I had a bad dealing with an "upscale" consignment shop who way overpriced everything I took in. The prices were lowered 3 times and then she claimed she sold nothing and donated it all. The place is now closed.
A few weeks ago I took some clothing items, all brand new with tags, a pair of never worn 100% leather mid-calf boots and a Coach handbag purchased from Macy's and used 2 weeks, to a store that gives you the money on the spot for your items and then puts everything out.
While I waited for them to price out everything I looked around. AGain, they advertise as being high end but the labels weren't. There were a lot of QVC labels there, lots of Penney's labels, Kohls stuff and even Target. Anything that had a decent label was overpriced.
They called me over and offered me $57.00 for everything I had. I told them no thanks and walked out with everything. I ended up selling the Coach bag for $100.00 alone on our county garage sale site. I also sold the boots and most of the clothing.

I love EBay but wouldn't go to the trouble to sell there; now my small community has a "certified EBay reseller", which I might try.

@patbz....our small town has an Ebay reseller as well. I took a couple of handbags to them this week. They get 30%, which was ok with me....I have more to sell but thought I should start out small to make sure that everything runs smoothly.

I only did this once I took several Coach items in and I ended up getting very little when the items were sold. I would rather give them to a friend who will enjoy then as much as I did

pommon, consignment stores are very, very, very, picky about what they will accept. Clothes are so inexpensive that most only take designer labels, seasonal 2017 clothes, (not last years style) lightly worn, dry cleaned & on hangers. That's my experience in big cities. Yours may be different.
