Considering taking some handbags which are in mint condition, costume jewelry and a few pieces of clothing that still have tags on them.

Went to the website and read their requirements.  This is an upscale place with great reviews so I feel comfortable dealing with them. By appointment only.

This will be first time doing this.  Are there any questions I need to ask while there?

Ask them to price your handbags before you leave them, you may be surprised at the price.  (low)

You might do better on eBay - cut out the middle man, or on a closed Facebook buy/sell group in your area.

It is worth a try.

My neice went to one with some of her professional business clothing. Got a small percentage back from a few items that were sold. She ended up bringing alot back home that didn't go. Keep in mind of seasonal clothing, etc.

It is better that trying to sell at a garage sale, etc.

Good luck.

Thanks, all, for your input.  Unfortunately, the brick & mortar store closed and is going online.  Not too comfortable with that.

After years of seeing these situations on The People's Court, get everything in writing, an actual contract!!!

Have you looked into Poshmark?  I've sold a few things there and was pleased with my experience.  eBay is also good.  As long as you take good pictures, and give good descriptions you should have success.

You  saw their website, I would think that the answers were there in the requirements.  I'm sure they only want people who are seriously interested.    I never sold anything to resale shops but my sister was a size 4 and in our early career days, she bought work clothes from a couple of them.  They were always high end designer items.  I bought a handbag or two.  Gucci, I was into Gucci and I could never have afforded to buy them any other way.  I was young but I remember being in awe that a woman could  pay $2500 or bag and carry it a few times and then sell it for $250.  So she could buy a $4000 bag.

I just recently brought some items into an upscale consignment shop too after cleaning out my closet.  I had some name brand bags, jewelry and clothing with tags still on it.

The consignment shop gets 50%.  The prices aren't going to be top dollar but I figure it's better than giving it away.  Of course one can try Ebay but it depends on how much work and hassle along with shipping you want to deal with.  The consignment shop was easy.

I returned after a week or so with some shoes and they gave me a check for $250.00.  Yes it's a drop compared to what I spent on it but iot's better than collecting dust in my closet and no work on my end other than bringing it in.

Just be very clear on your percentage and make sure they log each one of your items.

I did this a few times, but they never kept a log of what sold and did not.  I had to take there word for it which is no way to do business.  This is just ONE example of the one I used...they are not all like this.  Just also be aware, their goal is to move things.  They will undercut all prices to sell.

Good luck.  I love shopping consignment, but wont sell any more.

Too bad you cannot put those bags in a thread for us to fight over.  LOL... I would be on board for that.

They usually don't take things that are out of season, meaning they won't take your summer dresses in the fall or winter.
