Re: Collectibles that are not popular now.

I had several porcelain dolls in the 80's. You don't know what to do with

them after a while they just got in the way.

The only thing I ever collected was not from qvc.  That was professionally decorated horse figurines from "The Trail of Painted Ponies".

@Kachina624 I have a big "Spirit Horse" by Woody Crumbo.  I ran into him one day at a local gallery and we were standing there admiring one of those.

I leaned over to him and quietly said "I think that's what horses really look like."  He leaned over, had a little smile on his face, and quietly said "I do too!"  I cherish that!

I first saw the Spirit Horses I think in the Western Horseman-a long time ago.

Precious Moments..from when they first started..Hallmark Ornaments in the 80's..I owed the store..

Expensive Dolls new and antique and at one time clowns.

All these things are in glass cases..I might have thrown them out long ago if I had to dust them!..I had a cleaning lady in my store.

My DILs are allowed to pick a few whenever they are here.

I have a lot of china and crystal not worth anything now, but I used it and loved it and do not regret buying it at all.  I could have blown the money on manicures, shoes, lunches or anything else people buy.

I ditched the Longaberger baskets years ago and didn't even flinch.  Part of a life now gone.  Move on.

I was thinking of collectibles that were popular back in the 1990s that you never hear about now.  There was "Boyd's Bears" and "Beanie Babies", "Longaberger Baskets", "Roman Inc. Angel figurines" off the top of my head.  Were you into collecting any of this? Do you still have any?  Do you regret spending money on collectibles that have lost their value now? Or do you feel they have not lost their value?

@mormel20

It is unbelievable to see prices on Bellek, Lladro, Longaberger Baskets, fine china etc.  at current estate sales.  So low and you can't give them away.

I collected Harmony Kingdom and still have 2 glass front cases full of it.  It'll be here as long as me. I think some of the very limited pieces still have some value.

I have a collection of Seraphim Angels but they weren't bought as investments...I just love having them around!

Most of them are connected to an occasion in my life!

Re: Collectibles that are not popular now.

I started a collection of president spoons.  The reason I started this was I found eight spoons in a drawer at my grandmother's house. I don't remember where they came from possibly cereal or soap boxes back in maybe the 40s. I started going to flea markets and got the whole set. I bought a spoon rack for the wall and started buying the current ones from the silver manufacturer. I do not have them anymore. I gave them to a thrift shop. My daughter did not want them. I could clean them and put them back up in order, but the cleaning girl had a cheat sheet inside the dining room, hutch!

I had a Beatrice Potter collection in my daughter's room of all the characters from the books. That is also gone. She did not want it.

Also, had a collection of Royal Dalton Christmas plates that I put out each Christmas on a plate rack that lined the dining room.

I collected way too many things. They were gifts. I did not buy them, my husband or parents did.

As a child, I was given silver charms for a bracelet, it became two.  I stopped when my husband bought me a gold one.

Love Western Horseman magazine. Haven't seen one in a long time. The other one my mother always had in the house Was Arizona Highways. Beautiful pictures. @Sooner

Re: Collectibles that are not popular now.

I never collected anything.  I’ve always been a minimalist.  I got married in 1973 and it was common at the time to pick out China and silverware patterns.  I refused because I wanted practical everyday dishes and stainless-steel flatware.  Collectibles never appealed to me.
