@Mz iMac. Just this morning heard that J&J vaccine is only 71% effective. That's not worth the effort, I wouldn't even bother. It's actually dangerous because people think they're protected, become complacent and careless when they actually only have limited protection.
Well since the average flu vaccine barely reaches 50% and every year people have to complain that people don't get that vaccine. Would think that this would be a great option for those who need some protection.
I finally agree with a @CrazyDaisy post! This is amazing! Celebrate good times, come on!
I think the vaccine versions that are a bit less effective in preventing all Covid levels, but that are 99% or 100% at preventing hospitalization and death would be a great option for younger, healthier people and children.
If we can keep everyone from dying of or losing a lung to Covid, that would be a major step up in quality of life.
I'd still prefer the Moderna, though. That's the one I want when it is my turn. Pfizer would be fine too. And I'd prefer the J&J to nothing if that were the only choice.

I totally agree @Porcelain, 60-70% effective for a vaccine is pretty darn good. Yes, 95% is better, but 60-70% protection is nothing to scoff at. And evidently of the 30% or so that did contract covid, the vaccine prevented dying from covid. That is a pretty significant factor for sure.

Oh, I see @goldensrbest, your state has not move to category 1 c yet. As more vaccine is manufactured they will be able to move thru groups 1a and 1b a little quicker so hopefully they will open 1c for you all pretty soon. But, you may very well have to be open to traveling a little distance to get an appointment too. You may be able to get an appointment in a clinic that is not the one closest one to you.

Gotta remember the statistical numbers of dying I stated in another post. Not sure where you fall in the age group, but me in the over 80? My chances of living if contracting the virus is 94.6%, so it is not near the "0%" you mentioned without the vaccine.
I agree that getting the J&J vaccine is better than nothing and you're done, but! It just passed the FDA and judging from the other 2 vaccines distributios, and the difficulty of many to get them? The Pfizer or Moderna may be available much sooner that the "1 and done" vaccine.

Last month, N.J. governor got a verbal beat down at one of his televised news conference from several newspaper reporters regarding a lot of folks do NOT have access to the internet, no cell phone(s} nor computer/tablets. And if they did, they do not know their way around the internet for that matter. In 24 hours a toll free phone # popped up on the COVID website.
In 48 hours there was info regarding a group of college students who volunteer to assist folks weave arouond the internet to get vaccine appts.
Them "powers that be" have NO clue.....
They certainly don't where I live either... Everything is web based... My elderly mother wouldn't know the first thing about how to begin... There is a phone number... You call it and sit on hold indefinitely... Not only are the powers that be clueless, but apparently so are the corporate entities that are now in on the action... And once again, someone with more than half a brain needs to take charge...

@Mz iMacThis is a perfect example of government officials and those in charge being "reactive" and not proactive. I know your locality and/or state knows the needs of its respective communities. They take the American Community Survey and the Census.
Why did people have to beg for this? I'm pleased it was taken care of expeditiously, but it makes no sense that this wasn't set up right out of the gate. Prepare, prepare, prepare.....
