Re: Coca Cola Getting Rid of Tab

I was a Tab drinker, way back when, and drifted away from it.  I am now and have been a Diet Coke drinker.  I tried Tab a few years ago to see if I still liked it and thought Yuck.  Another soda I liked then hated was Fresca.

didnt tab go away another time and then come back?

my mom and i used to drink a lot of tab during the late 70s. i cannot say i have even noticed it in my grocery store at all.

right now i am having some difficulties finding caffeine free diet coke and caffeine free diet pepsi.

It never went away but it did have to include a warning label after research stuides linked saccharin to cancer in lab rats.  The warning label was later removed when the study was disproven.

I had no idea that they still made Tab.

@cookie16 , I still love Fresca but it has to be the original.  My mom drank tons of that when she was on WW way back when I was little.

I don't drink any soda at all now and haven't in years but if I went back, Fresca and diet Dr. Pepper would be my choices.

Re: Coca Cola Getting Rid of Tab

I just saw this on Facebook.  I thought Tab had been discontinued years ago.  I don't recall ever seeing it in grocery stores, WM, etc.

They were still making that stuff?  It was horrible from the beginning in my book.  I never could drink it.

Re: Coca Cola Getting Rid of Tab

Tab was the only coke product I remember in our refrigerator growing up. There was no coke, sprite, or anything else. That's what Mom drank. And I didn't know what "Pepsi" was until I was married! Smiley Wink

Tab was what I drank too. If I went out I splurged on a regular Coke, and a real treat for me was Vanilla Coke!  I remember my late brother as a teenager coming home with a Big Gulp from 7-11 filled with Tab.

As an adult I "lived" on Diet Coke and sweet tea. I never drank coffee, so I started my day with one. The caffeine prepared me for the classroom! About 4 years ago I stopped drinking Diet Coke and Coke. The hardest thing for me was giving up "Mexican Coke," which I always ordered at our favorite Mexican restaurant.

But as I write this I still remember the taste of Tab from all those years ago!  Smiley Happy

Re: Coca Cola Getting Rid of Tab

Lots of memories from this thread! I was a Tab addict in college. I think it was the first -- at least one of the first -- diet sodas. The number one choice of soda from all of us gals looking to drop those 5 bikini pounds. (It would be a lot more than 5 for me now and definitely no bikini.)

My mother drank tons of Fresca. She and I both went on that famous grapefruit diet. I also improvised my own version, nothing but oranges and Tab during the day or Miller Lite at evening festivities. Had to party in those college days!

Now it's Diet 7Up or iced coffee! Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi only when dining out. Eating healthy as much as my willpower will allow.   Smiley Very Happy  Can't find Diet 7Up in the last few weeks. Hate these shortages.

I think Tab was recalled when saccharin became "toxic". I believe it came back on the market with a mix of Aspartame and saccharine. Was it always a pink/ rose colored can?

I remember a red can, too.

Re: Coca Cola Getting Rid of Tab

Tab was THE diet drink back in highschool. I remember it had a not-so-great taste and could some food taste REALLY bad if you had Tab just before or after, lol.

Once I discovered Crystal Lite, it was bye bye Tab. I don't drink any diet beverage now. It all tastes funky to me.

Some time in the late sixties when they took out the banned sweetener I entered a very deep depression 😫 Never drank it again.
