@cherry....desperate and ineffectual. The school administrator needs to go back to the drawing board and give some viable solutions. No one's life will be saved by throwing rocks at a shooter.

Desperation often brings ineffective and, in this case, also dangerous solutions.
Can't you just see a group of children panicking around a box of rocks and being mowed down en masse by a sharp shooter? Like shooting ducks in a barrel.

If funding was available I agree. In many cases schools just don't have extra money. Washington should be picking up the tab for this

But the way you've presented it, @cherry, is just that. The only option, presented by a desperate man.

Not to mention aim accuracy.
It is indeed a very, very sad day when we think that this is the best we can do in our kids' defense.
Once again this tactic is not intended to be the solution. Did you not teach your child to fight if a stranger grabed them. Fight for their life.
Rocks (or anything thrown) are not intended to be weapons or a counter offensive to a bullet. They are distractions. They do not have to hit the target, do not have to wound or kill, just distract. Give the kids in the room a chance to run, overtake the shooter or even get the shooter to leave. 20 people throwing stuff at you will make you stop and defend yourself. Possibly giving you enough time to save yourself or others. Basic self defense.

@CrazyDaisy if we are ever in a last ditch attempt to protect children. I hope you are with me. It might not work but at least we would give it our best shot
If the gov really cared ,they would make sure our schools were protected. They could use military for this if they had to.

Well, on a lighter note, the sun is shining and I am off to work in my garden..we may not agree on a solution but we all agree something needs to be done, I hope we will figure it out..have a nice day everybody xo

I honestly pray we never have to witness the result of the rock defense.
I think it's an all around terrible idea, and I've stated why.

I hope I never have to witness another mass slaughter in any school. If a rock was all that I had ,I would do my best to protect as many as I could...

I think we all hope that, @cherry.
We just don't agree that rocks are any kind of defense and would most likely result in more death, not less.
But we could go round and round on this all day, and I don't want to do that.
