Are there also slingshots?

That’s a dumb idea

Not to mention the kids will be using them on each other - or the teacher!
Or the fictitious "hillbillies in the neighborhood"! ![]()

Yes it is important ,and this administrator ,knows that the kids safety, is entrusted to him. He is doing the best with what little he has, to protect those children. He cares enough not just to leave it to chance
You don't need to lecture me about what goes on in schools, my daughter is a policewoman at a big 10 school .I know only too well. Her first day on the job she was called out, on what turned out to be a double homicide

I don't doubt it however the problem is that they simply won't have the time it will take to get the rock and throw it compared to a semi-automatic "ready" to fire immediately. There is simply no equity in the two. However, I was serious in commending the Super because the bucket of rocks will provide a semblance of comfort, and that's good.

I understand where cherry is coming from. However, an AR-15 is a killing machine. By the time a kid picks up a rock, he or she will be dead, along with all the other students in the classroom. I think the Superintendent needs to come up with a better plan!

Well David killed Goliath with a few stones. They may also have slings. I have seen them used before. They are deadly..they are a long range weapon and they hit with tremendous force
I applaud this man. He is thinking out of the box ,and doing the best he has ,with nothing at all..no help from our govt nor anyone else
To all the sneerers you don't seem to have any solutions at all, do you?

I just read that ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate, @ValentinaBon, a program to train against active shooters.
In general, I don't see what one bucket of rocks would do in one location. You'd need a pile of rocks in each desk, or strategically placed around the classroom.
Otherwise, the logistics of reaching the rock bucket, grabbing rocks, taking aim, and throwing as someone burst in with a weapon would be like lambs to the slaughter. Sorry for the graphic picture, everyone.

That's why you need the slingshot!

The reality is rocks aren’t going to save lives.
