Re: Christmas Tree Shops is Filing For Bankruptcy

Wow more sad news.  I do like the chirstmas tree shop too.  I remember when I first heard about the store, whenever it came to my area, I did think it only sold christmas items!  I found it very confusing that my friend thought I should go there in the summer.  If it wasn't for her maybe i never would have gone there! But I did and always found something interesting there tho and very reasonably priced.

I will say, what I thought was a weird decision, and as it turned out very badly timed, was they decided to stop online sales and the timing of it was right before the pandemic hit.  And they didn't pivot and change back.

How sad. We did not have them here but we stopped in the Hagerstown store any time we were nearby. I don't know what is happening to all these wonderful stores and shops.

Re: Christmas Tree Shops is Filing For Bankruptcy

I enjoy shopping at stores and being out and about.  My Christmas Tree shop is now called This and That. I was just there a few days ago and there were so many nice seasonal items.  This news saddens me as I am still upset over the closing of Pier One stores.  I haven't heard anything about a closing but if this is true I will be very disappointed.  When stores close, people lose their jobs and that also bothers me. I feel as though my shopping choices are dwindling and I will not shop exclusively on line.

Funny i rarely went in Christmas Tree Shops. There were a lot of tschotckies and kitschy nautical stuff decorated with lobsters and  anchors.  always the same old stuff.  i have lived near one location  or another for years...no interest to shop there

Re: Christmas Tree Shops is Filing For Bankruptcy

I'm with you @spiderw I do a lot of shopping online but usually it is for something that is a repeat buy for me, it I am buying a gift or something new to me I want to see, touch and feel it. I guess I did not realize that all the Pier One stores were gone, I loved that store but we lost ours several years ago. I owned travel agencies and bought decor items for them constantly. I really missed them when they closed our store.

@CatsyCline yes alot of tschotckies and little kitschy stuff - we didn't have a lot of nautical in my store.  And the selection of things was mostly changing - or changing enough to keep it interesting.

I found some great, reasonably priced baskets there, gardening stuff (hose sprayers, garden gloves, shovels), really nice planters both large and small for very good prices.  For me, that sort of thing ....

Oh, I even got a nice cart/table there - kind of industrial looking - was so reasonable, looks perfect and fit my needs.  Funny, I get a lot of compliments on it!  I even got a colorful bench that I keep plants on there.  I think it's a good store to have in the mix.  I do wish they woud go back to online sales - as not every store is stocked the same, so if you noticed something in their flyer it's possible you may never be able to get it.

Re: Christmas Tree Shops is Filing For Bankruptcy

I have one of those stores near me.  I do shop there pretty often and they're usually packed.  You have to wait in line to check out and there are traffic jams with all the overstuff carts. They are always busy.

I hope they don't permanently close.  I will miss them.

Re: Christmas Tree Shops is Filing For Bankruptcy

The and That store in Fredericksburg, VA has closed...I was so sad to see it go, I bought a lot of nice home decor from there and outside lanterns and solar lights for my yard. It was my go to store when I was working for co-worker gifts.
