Re: Childen Left in Cars To Die

I am now a Great grandmother, raised three children back in the day and we never had this happen that I know of and so common today.  When we took our babies in the stroller we had no cell phones and constanly looking at it like I see mothers today doing.  I have seen a few fathers with strollers, which didn't happen in my day, that is a nice thing, but they are not looking at cell phones.

It's a different world and not so much for the better. How can you forget your children are in the car? Too busy on twitter, facebook, snap chat, etc. Disgusting.

@qvcaddition  Back in the day most didn't know of these things happening unless it was in your area. The newspapers then reported town happenings. Now we know everything about everyone no matter where they live. There's no way people can say this has never happened before. You also don't know everyone is busy on Twitter, Facebook, etc. I'm not sticking up for people who left their kids in the car, but times change as far as news goes.

Re: Childen Left in Cars To Die

The 1st question the police should ask the parent of a child left in a hot car is, "did you remember your cellphone?"

A "yes" answer, slap the cufffs on them.

If you are so busy that you forget a human being you gave birth to maybe you need to forego some things and just concentrate on keeping that kid alive.

Walmarts and other big stores should have a supervised childcare area. That might reduce some of these deaths.

I think @hckynut is spot on with his comment.

Back in your day children weren't seated in rear-facing car seats in the back seat of the car. Your generation weren't any better parents than this one.

@Twins Mom

I will add more specificity to my other comment.

When it comes to this situation

Been one that writes notes to myself as reminders as far back as I can remember. Put my car keys on whatever happens to be the most important thing to remember to take when I leave.

They are not fail safe 100% of the time, but none have involved a life and death situation. I will agree to call it a "system", as long other's lives are not dependent on it.

Having no kids I can only base things on what I hear, and see, when it comes to parents comments. Almost all parents say "my children are the most important thing in my life". Then to read stories similar to this one! It just doesn't register to me how that can be.

I have forgotten many things in my vehicles over the decades, but never my keys. That goes back long before vehicles had warning noises if you leave your keys in the ignition.

Why? Because being able to get where I am going is not a thought/memory or a reaction. Like breathing, it is something that does not require thought, it is 1 of my brain's auto functions.

Maybe I dug myself a deeper hole here with you. I tried!  =^..^=

Some things just don't bear thinking about.

This is one of them.

Re: Childen Left in Cars To Die

So now it's the fault of the child's location. Seems parents have no difficulty keeping track of their child in their home, even when the child is asleep in another room. I wonder if the parents go off to work or shopping leaving their child behind at home. Probably.
