My favorite is when someone glued to a phone steps off an escalator and just stands there, while the people behind them crash into them. Complete obliviousness to the other.

I agree 100% I grew up without cell phones. However, I was blessed with many good and close friends and we would get together and TALK, yes, FACE to FACE. We would hang out, go places and have fun together. They were some of the best years of my life. I own a cell phone and have nothing against anyone who does. But people are addicted, constantly checking to see if anyone contacts them. Aside from emergencies , phones shouldn't be used every minute of the day. I lead a full busy life, still see my friends in person and family and hardly am on my phone. I wouldn't trade that for anything.

Regarding cellphone use in supermakets: they might be Instacart Shoppers. This is what they do for a living and they have to use their phone to see what products to buy for their customers. The reason I know is that I work in a supermarket and I see the Instacart Shoppers all day, every day. So just because they are on their phone does not mean they are wasting time. They may be doing their jobs.

You are so right. Also ,many markets have apps that shoppers use while shopping.
when I go to Home Depot for something, there isn't a chance I could find it without my cell phone guiding me to where it is in that vast store.

@lynnie61 wrote:Many are too absorbed in themselves. Rude, trying to order at say, the deli counter. One day, the guy (worker) said, next! (And the person on the phone had a fit). I serve one day a week at a local restaurant. On more than one occasion, I said I will get your order when you are off the phone. Order, and let THEM wait! So rude.
@lynnie61 Welcome!🥰 WOW! You are SO brave, but GOOD for you!😁 I really wish I could understand how this happened SO quickly!😊 It is like a societal sickness.🤔
THANK you SO much for caring to share your rude experience this afternoon!🤗

@cindyNC Welcome!🥰 I COMPLETELY understand!!! I cannot look at my cellphone while I am performing other tasks!😁 I am no longer the great multitasker, I once was.😊

I hoped you yelled Thanks a lot to the person that couldn't hold the door open.
A lot of people are obsessed with their cell phones?
@Nightowlz Welcome!🥰 I was TOO stunned to respond, and would likely have been too afraid these days!😐 Not only are people distracted with their cellphones, some are walking around on edge! I would hate to push an unstable person over the edge!😊
THANK you SO much for caring to share your observations this afternoon!🤗

Sometimes I forget it's better to not open my mouth. I still do at times but not like I used to. You never know who may be on edge or what they might do.
@Nightowlz Welcome back!🥰 EXACTLY!!!!❤ Some are like powder kegs just WAITING to blow up!😁
THANK you SO much for revisiting and sharing your opinion this afternoon!🤗

@september wrote:I think cell phones get blamed for people being rude, in general. These people always existed.
Now, they just happen to be holding a cell phone, and that gets added to the debate.
As for those with the dashboard mounts...in most cases, they are being used for GPS purposes. No different than using the GPS system that came with your car, but our cell phone GPS apps are much more useful.
@september Welcome!🥰 You are correct!❤ Rude people have ALWAYS existed, but this is not just rudeness. Some of these people are emotionally detached, distracted, and clueless as to their extraneous environment! That can be potentially dangerous.😐
THANK you SO much for caring to share opinion this evening!🤗
