I thought of a recent interaction with a young man who was so FIXATED on his cellphone that he he did not hold a door for me and my hands were full! The door swung back; HARD!!😡 While he certainly was NOT obligated to, it would have been appreciated!😁 Whenever I am on an elevator these days, most people NEVER even look up from their screen!😐 It is like zombie nation!😁 A simple greeting is a foreign concept!
I am curious to know your THOUGHTS or experiences!

I agree. Many are in their own little internet world. I have had folks walk into my slowly moving car while I was in a parking lot with their face in their phone.
But, mostly people in my area are polite and will hold the door for you....even young folks.
Quite a few years ago, I was on crutches after surgery. I am not good with them....kinda clumsy. I went clothes shopping and my youngest son went with me. The rudest people were older women. When they wanted to pass me, they just pushed me out of the way. No " excuse me" no "pardon me." They just knocked me off balance and pushed me aside.
My son got irate and told a few of them off. I finally just went home. It wasn't worth the aggravation.

Couldn't agree more! People are addicted to their cell phones. Crossing streets, on the elevator, walking--just staring at their hands. I'm sometimes tempted to ask them what they're looking at. What a world!!!

My pet peeve with cell phone use is when people block entrances like doors, market aisles, public parking, etc. while they are texting.

Maybe a bit off topic, but I think the dashboard cell phone holders should not be allowed. Very distracting. It's bad enough with my wide screen dashboard monitor which I find somewhat distracting too!!! It's so easy to look about & find yourself in another lane. Thank God I have a lane departure feature. Too much technology today!!!

@Carmie Welcome!🥰 Most interactions in our suburb are polite exchanges, but during my last trip to the market, even the CHECKER was checking her cellphone.😐 How is that even allowed?😁 Perhaps it is just on my radar more lately.🥰
WOW! I was SHOCKED when you said it was OLDER women that are the culprits where you live.😮
THANK you SO much for sharing your experience this afternoon!🤗

In a huge hurry, I ran into a grocery store to grab a few items last week. When I turned down one aisle, I stopped in my tracks.
There were 4 people in that aisle, all shopping separately. Each one was motionless, and just staring down at their phones.
Sure, they could've been reading grocery lists, but it struck me nonetheless.
The saddest experience, though, was one day when I picked up my grandkids from CCD class.
There was a handful of moms waiting for their children, & had their younger ones in tow.
The little ones were staring blankly at nothing while their mothers were absorbed with cellphones, never looking up from them.

Yes, people seem to be transfixed by their cell phones.
