My father in law has a funny story about a celebrity.
Way, way back he was on a plane to LA seated beside a guy who said he was going to Hollywood to make it big (or at least try to!). The guy didn't speak really good English, but they were able to understand each other during the long flight and had a great time. The guy had such big plans that my father in law was impressed and said he didn't doubt he'd have some success. When they were leaving the plane my father in law teased him and asked him for his autograph (on an airline napkin!) and said he'd watch for him.
Some years later my FIL would tell us that story and would ask us to guess who it was. Then he'd bring out that old napkin (that he'd saved in a plastic bag) and show it to us ... it was signed Arnold Schwarzenegger! Well I'd say Arnold ended up having a little success after all LOL.

@beach-mom Not big celebrities, but I met Cheap Trick in the late '70s. I remember my friends and I were very excited to meet them. They had a lot of charisma.

I rode the school bus and sang in my high school choir with Robin Zander. When he sang "Ave Maria" at the Christmas concert it brought some in the audience to tears. He has a beautiful tenor voice. And he lived a few blocks from my house in relatively modest means. Truly a 'poor kid makes good' story.
In contrast, Rick Nielsen grew up in a wealthy area of town in a socially-prominent family.

My brothers sons met Shaquille O’Neil at an school aspberger function. He was so great to all the kids. Really impressed my nephew. My nephew still talks about it.
My sister and brother in law met Donny and Marie twice. Said the were both great. Small meet and greet, and spent time meeting many. Said the both seemed very down to earth. Once in Vegas (near the end of their Flamingo run) and once in Atlantic City.
I was at a show in Vegas where Diana Ross was carrying on not wanting the wait staff and bus boys to be watching her show for free. Really? They worked at the hotel that sponsored her show. I walked out after hearing this. So did many others. It was probably in the mid 80’s. Very sad.

Interesting read, Arnold Schwarzenegger also served as gov of CA from 2003-2011, that was clever thinking of your FIL and to hang on to a simple treasure that will become valuable in years to come.

Heidi Klum--Demanding but in a funny way
Kim Cattral--nice but obsessed with age
