Back in the 80s many of the Kansas City football and baseball players hung out in the same bars. Joe Montana, Marcus Allen, George Brett. Everyone was nice except George Brett who was a nasty drunk and I heard kept a little black book...
I worked the door at a big disco and all the players would show up after a games plus the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels who were all nice. I went to the air show the next day. Free tickets were also nice for the games.
I met Anson Williams Happy Days one night who was very friendly and in town scouting a location for a film he wanted to direct. Spent a long time with him until he asked me if I would like to have a drink in his hotel room with him. I said aren't you married? He said yes and that was the end of the conversation. ![]()
Lyle Waggoner hosted a beauty convention once and he was very nice.
Of course all the bands who had meet and greets before the shows were always very nice. lol Jimmy Clanton traveled with his family. Paul and Paula were great.
While in Vegas 70s Wayne Newton kissed me in the front row during one of his songs. Later saw Liberace who walked by on stage & I touched all his rings as he leaned over. lol

I used to be a hotel restaurant manager, so would see an occasional celebrity.
One wintery day, I was walking across the Lobby, & a man was pacing & fretting while looking out the big, glass windows as a raging blizzard had just begun.
I asked 'Can I help you?', & he turned & said that he had a show that night, & had wanted to get a haircut and a manicure, but now didn't see how it was possible.
It was Lou Rawls.
I called the girl who did my hair to see if her salon was open, & though she was about to close, she said to bring him right in.
No cab would come, so Lou, his girlfriend and I all trooped out to my Toyota Corolla, we all scraped off the car & I drove them to the salon.
I remember cracking up as I looked at Lou in my rear view mirror, & said that it must be hard to be famous, as he was so familiar to me, while he didn't know me from Adam!
They were both so nice and fun to be with.
His GF even offered to waitress for me in case a server called out.
One early morning as I opened the restaurant, there was a guy riding a bike through the Lobby, so I called out 'Sir, you can't ride a bicycle in here!'
It was Bill Murray. He was a great guest, and gave his housekeeper a $100 tip. She was thrilled!
I once delivered a FedEx package to a room, & when Chris Elliot opened the door, I burst out laughing!
During its height of popularity, the cast of Trading Spaces stayed for a week, & my young son, a busboy back then, had a huge crush on Paige, & some of the waitresses had a thing for Ty Pennington.
I remember being impressed by Doug's skin, which was flawless!
They were all terrific.
Kirk Cameron & his wife and family were some the the loveliest, gentlest people I've ever met in my life.
Back when I lived in CA, I was at a club in Malibu & sitting at the bar. It was in the 1980s.
There were 2 seat open to my left, & a guy tapped me and motioned to the seats, & asked if they were taken. I said no, so he smiled & said "Thanks!", and he & his friend sat down.
It was Tom Cruise & Emilio Estevez.
I continued to smoke my cigarette & sip my drink, but every once in awhile snuck a peek at the big mirror behind the bar, just to make sure that it was really them! ![]()

My Rick Springfield story:
June 1999 - I went to see Rick perform at a casino on the Gulf Caast. After the concert was over, I managed to follow him backstage to his area. He was by himself and I was about 60 feet away. I hollered "Hi Rick" and waved. He gave me the biggest smile and waved back and said very enthusiascially "Hi!". I was about to approach him and was then dragged away by security!
I know Rick would have talked to me - I just know it! He had just turned 50 back then and he was as hot as ever. Omg!

This thread has been so fun! I've read every post and enjoyed them so much.
The only celebrity I can remember actually meeting was Red Skelton. He was in town doing a show. I went to K-Mart. There was a limo parked in front of the store. Red was walking around the store, taking pictures with employees in the camera department. He shook my hand and said "It's nice to meet you young lady"(it was a LOOONG time ago). He was so charming.

My most memorable... I met Bob Dylan in the mid 70s. I love his music.
I've met a number of music celebrities. Most were pretty normal people.

I already posted this once. Only met one but a big one. I actually met and had a conversation with Robtert De Niro. And I didn't know who he was. I was with my older sister in Manhattan. We were in the Tribecca area. It was very crowded and I noticed a man leaving a stage door. He was walking next to me and smiled at me. At the corner a man and a women suddenly started to fight. Yelling & screaming at each other. Then it got physical. The crowd stated to try and pull them apart, I rolled my eyes & he asked me if I was new to NY. And I told him it was my first trip. We talked some more. This happened at a corner & spilled on to the the street. The Police arrived, etc. I asked him if he was an actor. He laughed and said yes. I asked him if he was famous! It got really funny. He winked and waved good bye & walked on. My sister grabbed and screamed that was Robert De Niro, you moron!
P.s. I never saw the Godfather. And he looked perfectly ordinary.

Years ago,I had the treat of having a pace lap in the racecar of Paul Newman. He was so gracious and kind, And yes, his eyes were that blue.
In my late teens, I met Gordon Lightfoot at one of his concerts and was asked to attend an after-party as his guest. I declined. He asked for my number, I declined as he was twice my age and married at the time! I have been chided by many for not taking him up on his offer!

I went to a PBS fundraising event, "An Evening with Jacques", and had dinner with Jacques Pepin. He was lovely, soft spoken and very down to earth. Just as he appears on TV.
(It wasn't just me and the hubs; there were probably around fifty other patrons.)
