I do wonder about that myself. For example, if the dinosaurs didn't die out due to a chance big meteor strike and the disasterous consequences of that, mammals wouldn't have likely become the prominent species and humans wouldn't exist today.

There are some people who actually believe that the Chicxulub meteor was sent to the earth intentionally by some higher power just so that mammals could one day rule the earth and pave the way for human habitation. It's a far fetched concept but truth is stranger than fiction.

Re: Catastrophic Events and Evolution

People have done so much damage to our planet that it triggered early/mass climate change and probably sent evolution spinning.  I never understood why people, big oil, big business would allow such damage to where we live.

I respect your thoughts. In central Florida, where I live, we are a land of lakes. When I arrived here in 1963, you could pretty much jump into and swim in any pond or lake.

Flash forward--Now, boating is huge, but much less waterskiing and swimming on lakes. I have seen disposable diapers floating at the shoreline of public swimming holes.

We also now have a huge alligator problem. It is severe. In every body of fresh water, including retention ponds, there is a prevelant danger from alligators.

Quite a dilemma!

No, my mind is not made up of anything but brain matter that is always absorbing information and my own experiences.
