COMFORT FOODS WHEN STUCK IN SNOW DAYS?

Went to food store just in time before shelves cleared off. NC hardly ever gets snow, so 1st prediction, even if a week away, everyone stocks up. I purchased everything I needed and then my comfort foods: Krispy Kreme donuts, Tostitos & avocados to make guacamole, challah for French toast, ingredients for chili and minestrone soup and 2 bottles of wine.

Ordered pizza while they were still able to deliver & popped it in freezer. Then I added to my cart, lots of popcorn, beer for hubby, crackers & the "stinkyiest"  cheese they had. Oh, I did get some healthy fruit, rotisserie chicken and fresh veggies to grill.

I enjoyed surveying others' carts in the long checkout lines. What was in your cart?

I've been stuck in the house for a week with nothing sweet to eat - I felt like I was losing my mind this morning.  Went out and cleaned off car and got to the grocery for a donut - feeling much better, thank you.

Well I didn't have to go to the grocery as I had these things in the fridge and freezer, but one day I made a big pot of beef stew, another day I made goulash, today I will warm up the remaining beef stew. Tomorrow I "might" venture out to the store, lol.

Cheesy grits, vegtable beef soup and chicken and drop dumplings are all on the menu to keep me warm and cozy.

[ Edited ]

In September or October, I always put up homemade turkey (ground meat) chilli in my freezer for the cold months.  Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I put up homemade vegetable soup with ham in my freezer.

Going to have the homemade vegetable soup today with grilled cheese sandwiches.

Stay warm everyone and safe.

I do the same - I live alone and make huge batches of beef veggie soup and chicken corn soup and freeze.  Today it's snowing (expecting little) but it's bitter cold so I pulled out beef veggie soup for dinner!
