-7 degrees and 15" of  snow on the ground...I need comfort!!  The sideroads are a nightmare but the main roads are pretty good, so I braved the trip to the grocery store to stock up. Will let lean beef cubes simmer in the slow cooker with rich broth and root vegetables. Also have sweet potato muffins on the menu.

I use my Ninja roaster/stove top/slow cooker. I highly recommend this appliance as it's versatile and easy to use and clean. I can brown my meat like on the stove top and then switch to slow cooking all in one vessel. I think the latest version also has a steam function for rice. It's one kitchen item I can say was well worth the money.

I'm making split pea soup with a leftover smoked hambone I had from Christmas.  A hot bowl of pea soup while watching the snow come down... Mmmmm  comfort food at its best!
