@CoquilleAll caps would indicate yelling.  Bold highlights do not necessarily indicate yelling nor being nasty.

You have two different issues in your post.

We all know everyone can disagree and debate and try to be civil.

The key is how we perceive a response to our posts.

Name-calling, e.g., is being nasty.

Taking an opposing vp to our posts as "nasty" is in personal perception.

We don't have to respond to a post we consider nasty, uncivil, etc.  We can also take a step back and reconsider our pov when an opposing vp is presented.

It all depends upon what we expect to receive and how we accept what is presented.

Individual responsibility is the key;  nobody else is responsible for us.

Some see the Boogie Man everywhere I guess, I'm finding this entire thread pretty amusing, though I assume that was unintentional.

Why do people feel they have to yell their posts to get their point accross? We all have opinions and we should be accepting of everyone's ideas, thoughts, point of views, etc..

Why do people feel they have to be nasty to one another if one doesn't agree with them? People can always disagree and debate on any topic but try to be civil.

@Coquille

I am not one that believes some of the nonsense called "Internet or Website Etiquette". Never one that thought much of Roberts Rules or proper according to Emily Post. Also not all that interested in trivial things like misspelled words/"a" before "b"/using a verb where it is "proper" to use a noun.

@When I have a question of "why" a person posts a certain way, I use the @hckynut to address them and/or give them a shoutout in a thread title. That is just my methods of trying to get answers, and my view of the Internet Police.

Things like bold or CAPS don't mean that much to me, but I do know that for some(yes I asked them) CAPS and/or bold are easier for them to read. As one that has many decades behind my age, I understand those reasons.

Etiquette, who in the he!! thought up that word?

As best stated by a famous person on FB, CAPS ARE USED BY SOME OF US THAT WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO GET OLD.  WE ARE NOT YELLING AND WISH NO ONE TO TAKE OFFENSE BUT WE ARE NOT IN OUR GRAVE YET THUS WE ENJOY FELLOWSHIPING WITH OTHERS.  AGING WE LOSE OUR VISION, GET CATARACTS AND ALL GOES SOUTH BUT WE DO NOT COMPLAIN BECAUSE OUR FEET TOUCHED THE FLOOR WHEN WHEN WOKE UP (OR MOST OF OURS DID).

IN MY 60 SOME YEARS, I HAVE SEEN THIS Country GO DOWNHILL QUICKLY AND I STILL STATE IT IS BECAUSE WE CAN'T LEARN TO LOVE OUR FELLOW AMERICANS AND UNTIL WE DO WE WILL NEVER HAVE WORLD PEACE.    LET US SPREAD LOVE AND CARING.   Heart  ONE DAY MY FRIEND, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND.  ENJOY YOUR WEEK.

I don't mind the blue font.  It's fine for me.

What used to drive me crazy were the ellipses people.  The ones......who posted.....every third.....word with dots.......dots.......everywhere.....

Thank goodness, that seems to be gone!

GUILTY!!

I tend to use those dots, but I don't think I use them too much.....see?.....just maybe now and again.  I don't even know how or why I started using them.

It is funny what annoys us, and what doesn't.  I don't mind at all when people use bold font, or different colors, but I hate it when posters write long, long posts in only one paragraph.  I just find it harder to read, when the thoughts aren't broken up into segments.

No guilt here ... !  Woman LOL
