I have only used perfume testers ,and then it's usually sprayed on a tissue or a card
A woman is suing Sephora, claiming their lip testers gave her herpes. I've never used anything like a store tester for lipstick
Years ago ,Avon used to give out samples, in tiny tubes to try
I would never even consider using a tester like that

No to makeup testers!
I have tried lotions & sprays like at B & BW.

I use testers for anything and everything.

Not a good idea, bacteria-wise.

??? She tried the sample in October 2015 and is just now claiming she contracted herpes from that sample???
The sample would be long gone by now so how can she prove this?
I'm not saying that it cannot happen but 2 years later is a tad odd.

I would think she bears some responsibility herself - using a tester other people have used. You can get a lot of things from that

I don't know that much about virus. They might lay dormant?
I just would never use something that can be a petrie dish for bacteria
I have read things about people double dipping ,and licking their lips ,and then using more product

@cherry Ugh. I've seen that with food samples, too. LIcking fingers and then taking another sample without using the tongs provided. Some samples are not in those little cups.
I saw a woman just the other day grab a handful of sample covered pretzels, taste some, then decided they weren't for her. Instead of putting them in the wastebasket next to the sample display, she put them back.

I was at Ulta recently and couldn't believe all the cringe-worthy behavior going on. The worst was when I saw a teenage girl using an eyeliner tester on her eyes. Yikes.
Sometimes I apply store testers to the back of my hand. I'm having second thoughts about that now.
