Dumb?? I think not!! Thanks OP for the thread. It's so nice to see people with their pets get together for such a good thing.

One of my favorite days of the year. Our United Methodist church does a Blessing of the Animals every year. I take one cat in a carrier and then pictures of the rest. The pastor is always fine with the pictures. It really is a wonderful event!

Animals are God's creation so why should they need a special blessing?

Wow! Maybe they need blessings to grant additional grace and peace upon them? Maybe to protect them?
Let me tell you something, our daughter has always brought her horse to the blessing of the pets, about 8 years ago, her then horse was blessed and became ill and died within a week of the blessing. We are members of the Catholic church and practice it daily. It was so comforting to our 9 yr old daughter to know that her horse was blessed. You can call it dumb, but it's what we believe and we welcome all of the blessing we can get.
