Doctors can inflate skin to get it to expand for something like a skin graft.  I have to wonder what happens when things deflate.  Can practically hear the flapping of sagging skin.

I think the fuller lips look using injections will be fazed out in time. When I was in my 20’s the larger breasts were a thing. Look how many of them had to be removed because of complications years later. Or the women decided to remove them because they realized they looked better without them. As for for the lips a great lip liner will bring back that youthful fuller lip you once had. You just have to master using one and get a good quality product. I love Estée Lauder’s lip liners. No allergic reaction and look very natural. Have used them for years. Recently bought a shade of pink that I really love!

People (women and men) see the need either to be relevant as they age, such as actors and/or see a distortion which is not there.

If the procedure is overdone they do not see that either.

It's almost like the younger (usually) person weighing 100 lbs who sees an overweight person in the mirror and even with a severe weight loss still believes she is fat.

Everyone can make the decision for a variety of reasons; some for a bit of a tweak, some because they believe they do not look young, some because it's a trend.

Who knows.  Whatever one chooses I hope it is not to mask something underneath and are comfortable with whatever they choose.

What a blessing! I feel sorry for people who chase youth as they age.  I know some have to, just glad I don't!

I don't think anyone that has surgery or beauty enhancements is chasing youth.  Many just want to improve their appearance.

@San Antonio Gal Improving appearance for whom??

@Cakers3 , I can only answer for myself, but I did it for myself.  I haven't had any wok done on my face, but I did have lipsuction and I am so glad I did it.  Originally, it was only going to be for that post-baby belly pooch below the belly button that never went away after 20 years no matter how many crunches I did.  But, I also got the saddlebags done and I think that turned out to be the best decision I made.  Pants look so much better on me.  It just makes me feel so much better about myself.

If I were doing it for my husband, I'm sure he's disappointed because I don't parade around in lingerie or my undies in front of him.

@Icegoddess  And that is fine for you. I am happy for you.👍

As I said some just want a tweak as a reason.

I find it very sad that we don't see beauty in the way women really look, and who they are.  You're not pretty.  That's what it says.  You look so not-pretty you need to endure a lot of pain and expense to be acceptable.

@RescueLover  For some people, maybe.  However, if I put liner even barely outside of my lip line on the bottom it runs, even thought that is the natural contour of my lip and there is a bit of natural color there.  And I have used several brands of liners.  I also line my lips with a primer first to keep it from running.  I was never blessed with plump lips to being with, so never had that "youthful fuller lip".    Not every technique works the same on everybody.

Things you never worried about before:

Upper Tooth Show in Repose (static expression not smiling)

Upper tooth show is considered Youthful and Feminine

With no tooth show it looks like you have no teeth/ don't smile/ are mean

no worries, cosmetic dentist to the rescue

@Cakers3 You might have said that somewhere, but that is not the question I was responding to.  You asked who people were improving their appearance for.
