I just have seen more examples that are not what "they" are saying about the y and x generation. That the majority are "entitled."
That is just my experience. I obseve a lot of ambition and determination and smarts.
I taught a lot of that generation so Im not just talking about my kids or friends.
Do you have any children from that generation?
and I do think this whole discussion has been not just about generations
but all who are in the workforce or not.

@deepwaterdotter Yes one more thing to worry about now as the original crisis is ending! they are saying it's much more contagious then covid . It's spreading like crazy in India . I pray it doesn't make it here. Not sure if there is even a booster for it .
It's here now.

@on the bay Earlier I said it's likely we won't agree and that's fine.
I was also going to post some links to articles (there's hundreds) on the phenomenom of Gen X and Gen Y false entitlement. The reason I didn't was because you clearly weren't interested in a different point of view.
This phenomenom has studied by professionals, it has nothing to do with your students or my children. I made my point about it, I really don't care to discuss it anymore.

I don't care to discuss it anymore either. I will just say that I did not start the disagreement with you. I think you fail to see any other viewpoint but your own.
I am not that way at all. I like to see many sides. I've read the articles too regarding those generations.
You can't presume what others think on here.
We can hopefully respectfully agree to disagree.
It can be a mutually enlightening discussion as long as everyone doesn't make it a back and forth against each other. I stated my opinion and you seemed to take offense at everything I posted. And you seemed to want the back and forth. I get your viewpoint, and acknowledged it also from many things I said, agreeing with that.
I don't feel you did the same, or wanted to see any other side.
I can see you have strong opinions about those generations from the articles and your experience.
But we'll move on ok?

@on the bay All good, let's move on.

I am too. That is sad. I bet that your mom knew you loved her without any cards, and must have known you were thinking of her!
@on the bay Thank you...yes she did and was alert up until the last few days.

@haddon9 I'm sorry to hear about your mom. It sounds like she had a long and happy life. After reading your post, I realized that my missing package is not that big of a deal.

Benefits from the federal government will end in September when workers will have to return to work. Some states are ending their own payments earlier.
Not all price increases and inflation are caused by pandemic fallout. Some are caused by decisions being made.
QVC may be experiencing the same problem with shortage of workers, delayed shipments from China and unloading ships in LA harbor, but that doesn't explain QVC implying items are in stock when they are ordered, then go on backorder, to preparing the order, to backorder again, and once again, preparing your order.
The Absence of supply chain planning, pre and during the Pandemic start-up, really did cause serious, negative economic effects we are still trying to rectify.

I have had good luck ordering directly from China. My last 2 orders took 16 days and 18 days--a dress and a purse.

@Greeneyedlady21 wrote:So much judgment and jumping to conclusions here about other people, as always. Was just reading an article this morning about the record numbers of workers leaving retail over the last few months for OTHER jobs. They are working, not collecting unemployment. They say it's not worth their lives to be treated and paid that way. That's one reason retail can't find help.
These people delivered for us and risked their lives working in essential businesses. Now some people here sit in their comfortable lives and judge them. If you are so concerned about lack of retail and restaurant help, maybe go to work there and help out.
