Bangs or no bangs?

Just saw Erin Newberg on ShopHQ - she cut bangs and has a new haircut - I don't think it is flattering at all. Makes her face look very round. I had bangs all my life, but grew them out about 5 years ago and will NEVER go back to bangs. I think if you don't have bangs, don't do it - it takes way too long to grow them back out.

If you want to talk about bangs, why mention a host and say she looks bad? It's mean.

@glb613 - I'm not trying to be mean - I just think it's unflattering on her face shape. She's a very pretty woman - but I really liked her hair without bangs.

I agree.

Just like any other hairstyle it's all a matter of face shape and proportion.

I wear bangs because I have a long thin face. There are a multitude of bang styles and nearly everyone should be able to find something that flatters them if they choose to wear bangs.

I saw the host in question and I think her new cut will be fine. She said herself she's still working with the new bangs.

I applaud and encourage any woman to make a change, be it small or drastic, to our look. We change our fashions. Why not hair and makeup too? And if one is nervous to make a big change in a hairstyle, cutting bangs is a great way to make a change without losing the rest of your 'do.

I've done both. Not only do I have a very high forehead, my hair is fine, and even more so around the face. Long hair there always ends up getting beat up, and shortened due to wear.

I'm into the long bangs thing right now. Just went from side-swept to straight down the nose in the middle (my hair needed a break - so did my head. Now I just shake instead of flinging it to the side to right it). Fortunately I have a proficient hair stylist who has known me for a long time and she gets the layers right. The style is a "messy", to the shoulders, bob. Blunt layers then feathered just a touch.

I do not blow dry. Nothing screams dated to me like "round-brushed" bangs, or an obvious part (or even, a contrived "no part", part). Let it flow, I say! Natural hair is the prettiest, IMO.
