I am currently experiencing what I think is hip pain.. I am not able to lift my right foot up to like cross over to put on a boot for instance or sit cross legged on the floor.  ONly the right leg though.  I feel like the pain in coming from my hip.  Not sure when it started because I didn't notice until I was putting on boots and before that I really didn't put my leg in that positon for any reason.  I sat on the floor to put gifts under the tree and that is when I realized I cannot sit indian style with that leg either.  Was just wondering if anyone else has had this experience.  I'm 57 and every ache and pain sends me into thinking the worst.  I am not suffering too much so don't want to go to the dr about it.  As long as I don't move that way there is no pain. But realistically I'm afraid what they might find so its helpful if I am reassured by other's experience.

Yes I'm a baby.  Thanks!

This may or may not help, but when my husband had appendicitis the Dr asked if he could lift his right leg without pain and he couldn't. Apparently that is one of the signs. He was 61 at the time.

It sounds like you muscles are tight and need to be stretched.  You can lay on the bed on your back, bend your knees and slowly raise the other one up and over he other leg and try to stretch the muscle for a minute or a few mintues.  If you can't raise it over the other leg, you could use your hands to grab your pant cuff and slowly bring it over the other leg.

Why don't you see your DR.?  Seems to me a trained professional is better than people who are guessing, no matter how nice their intentions are.

I had the exact same thing affect me as soon as cold weather set in....plus I am close to your age.   For me, I had stumbled, and I believe that is what caused my "injury" to that area.    My DH took me to get my hip xrayed, and nothing showed up except Bursitis (took three weeks before I felt relief) .... the doc gave me Prednisone to help alleviate discomfort).  Hope you feel better soon!

What Is Bursitis?

Bursitis is the inflammation or irritation of the bursa. The bursa is a sac filled with lubricating fluid, located between tissues such as bone, muscle, tendons, and skin, that decreases rubbing, friction, and irritation.

What Causes Bursitis?

Bursitis is most often caused by repetitive, minor impact on the area, or from a sudden, more serious injury. Age also plays a role. As tendons age they are able to tolerate stress less, are less elastic, and are easier to tear.

I forgot to mention that you should slowly push on the knee that is swung over to stretch the muscle.

Please go to a doctor and find out what's wrong.  I was healthy as a horse until I woke up one morning and I had swelling hard as a rock under my eye.  I thought it was a sinus infection.  I was antibiotic after antibiotic and it didn't clear up.  I finally went to an ENT doc and had a ct scan and it turned out I have a Sinus Maxillary Lymphoma in my face.

I have 6 treatments of chemo to get rid of this and I have 4 more left to go.  So far after two treatments 90 percent of the lymphoma is already gone.  I thank God it didn't spread anywhere in the body from waiting so long to see a doc to find out about this.

Please go to the doctor.  I can't stress enough about that.  It may save your life.

As we age, one of the most important things we can do to maintain our bodies is to do stretches.  I know, easier said than done.

My chiropractor fixed me right up. But....................other poster's right. See your doctor, others can offer opinions, but aren't your doctor.

I had more pain than it sounds like you are having, but I was unable to lift one of my legs very much at all and it was sciatica. My chiropractor helped me.

Good luck. I think you should go to the doctor.
