I have a pet peeve about those double wide trailers that take up the entire right lane on the interstate and stick out over into the left lane. And they have escort vehicles who then pull into the left lane when they think the double wide will need more room, thereby blocking all the traffic in the passing lane. So, traffic is backed up not only behind the rig but in the other lane, too. And this can continue for a few miles.
It should be illegal to block traffic in both lanes and limit the travel of all of the rest of us.

It's really bad out there. People either don't know what's going on, don't really care if they ever get there, or drive like a bat out of hades. It's ridiculous, and it's gotten so much worse in the past 5 or so years, IMO.

@PINKdogWOOD wrote:@Jordan2 Holy cow - this is a pet peeve of mine and has been FOREVER!!! I continue to be amazed with people who buy/have autos without turn signals!!! LOL but not really LOL.
Drives me insane. It is SO easy to flick the turn signal up or down to make it go click click with the light bulb that flashes to reflect which direction on is turning to. And I'll go the next step to say without prejudice that from my driver's seat it's men who are more guilty of this than women are.
On the broader spectrum of bad drivers, why must one who's making a turn, go wide from the next lane to make their turn?
Why do people turn right from the left lane they're in and vice versa?
Why do people pull out from somewhere only to then drive in the 'turn' lane only because they just HAD to pull out without waiting for the accurate lane to be free?
And finally, WHY DO PEOPLE STILL TEXT AND TALK ON THEIR PHONE WHILE DRIVING? Personally, I totally steer clear of these drivers because they ARE DAMGEROUS DRIVERS.
Driving is so dangerous anyway. Why is it so hard these days to JUST DRIVE?
OMGosh! I always wanted to know that also!! But you forgot one thing. Why do drivers when they drive in rush hour change lanes with no notice when they see brake lights in front of them? do they not have brakes? I so hate that when traffic slows and the brake lights come on they automatically swing to another lane cutting you off. Is it because they want to save one second in their lives? I so want the answer to that.

I definitely find that the general lack of manners that I have noticed increasing the last 10 yrs translates onto the road as well. I have had several things happen to me driving in just the last week and one of them today.
When I make a mistake with driving directions, I consider it my mistake and don't make people behind me pay for it. Today I was driving home and was on a main road. There were 5 lanes at an intersection, 3 to go straight (the far right lane also allows a right turn) and two turning left. Well the man in front of me who was also on his phone which is still legal here, was too engrossed in his conversation to realize he should have gotten in the left turning lane earlier.. Instead of going with the traffic and just going straight and THEN turn around later up the road, he made a dead stop so he could get into the left lane. It was rush hour traffic and this idiot made me and many others behind me wait so he could get into the left lane when it was HIS mistake in the first place. So we all missed the light.
This has happened to me at least 5 times over the last week where people realize at the last minute they are in the wrong lane and come to a dead stop so they can get over in several lanes of traffic so they don't miss their turn while waiting for others to let them cut in. When I drive and I make a mistake, I consider it MY mistake and I would NEVER come to a dead stop just so I could make a turn, making others possibly hit me or miss their light. I go up to the next place where I can turn around and get back on the road I am supposed to be on. Louis CK does a great skit about how selfish people are. It really is unbelievable.

Iguess it just shows that people's driving behavior is only a reflection of society's current lack of regard for other people. It's a ME, ME, ME society. I am thankful, however, for the majority of posters here who still care enough about others to be supportive and caring!

Two Road Rules To Live By
1. He who is BIGGER than I, will always go first. (Buses, semis...even personal Hummers, Duallys...lots of huge Pick'emUp Trucks in TX)
2. He who pays LESS INSURANCE than I, will always goes first.
I'm not busy craning my neck to see what the other driver is doing to cause their erratic behavior. I just hold back & let them pass.
I drive very defensively....and I've been told by a police officer I have AMAZING Spidey Sense! I can sense what cars are doing 2+ ahead of me...and even in my rear view mirror.
It's just being aware of your surroundings. And yes, you can multi-task while driving.

Wide loads have to apply for permission to use the road, wait to use it until a specific time when they are allowed to proceed and then they have an escort. They often have to pay for the privledge to use the road.

@jlkz wrote:And where did these young drivers learn this behavior / attitude ??? They are in the growing number of drivers posters have been venting about.
Also, if there were more "road" police or a procedure where good drivers could notify police before tragedy strikes, then the texting and aggressive driving will decrease.
Until then, be very defensive in your driving.

It is definitately not just the young demonstrating this behavior.
I see a great many mature and elderly drivers on the phone. Slowing down, Speeding up. Weaving. You look and they are on the phone. They are either texting or are simply not capable of talking and driving at the same time. It's epidemic and it crosses all age boundaries.

Okay so I just thought of 4 more things drivers do that really irritate me
1. People who drive worse during the holiday season, it's unbelievable the things they do!
2. People who park their car and leave their driver's side door wide open in traffic causing me to swerve ( or rip their door right off)!
3. When someone in a parking lot parks on top of you making you have to squeeze in or better yet get in on the passenger side an climb over the hump!
4. Lastly why do people have no regard in the early morning hours for the rules of the road? Just this morning at 6:30 A.M. I saw someone slow down at the red light and then proceeded to go through it. I can't tell you how many things I see in the morning!

Last night some bonehead went speeding by me. Little did he know there was a police car in an intersection who then stopped him and gave him a ticket.
