I just have to vent so please forgive me. When did people become such bad drivers? I know I'm not the perfect driver, but some people need to turn in their driver's license. I feel I'm a dying breed of people who still use their turn signals(It's second nature to me even when no one is in back or front of me). If you are going to cut in front of me at least have the courtesy to inform me of your intent. Also if you're turning left in front of me, if there is no car in back of me, can't you just wait? There, I feel so much better now!

I agree with everything you said. It just feels like an overall atmosphere of every man for himself out on the roads anymore. It used to be when I was in a backup and someone wanted to cut in, I would let them in and they would give me a wave or a nod or something to say "thank you". Now, nothing.
I think the "distracted driver" using his cell phone is the new drunk driver menace on the roads these days, and there's a whole lot more distracted ones than drunk ones! Some cities in my area have ordinanance against using cell phones in your car, but I never see them enforced.

The kind of bad driving discussed is a part of the general "me before you" society we live in. Too many people think they are better, more important, more knowing than anyone else around them. Those are people I don't want in my life whether they're driving or walking into a building ahead of me and slamming the door in my face or even running for office.
Anarchy does not work when people forget about what the common good might be or don'ty even care what is good for most, but anarchy seems to be where we're headed and it's not pretty.

Jordan2, I hope you know you're not alone. Where I live in a burb city of about 50,000, it's dog-eat-dog in the a.m. I've just learned to deal with it like a game. I make sure I've had plenty of coffee before I leave, I turn the stereo to some heavy metal music, and fire up the 6-speed red Mustang; and I'm ready to roll! I've gotten so I can smell a "cut" way before it happens. I don't let them in, but some sleeper in front of me usually does. I feel like Mario Andretti, but I've come to almost look forward to it. A word of caution.......you gotta have your eyes on the road and in all the mirrors with no distractions at all times!

I totally agree. On my way to and from work everyday I drive through recently built roundabouts. Seven of them. It's crazy. People coming from the highway are supposed to yield to those already in the roundabout, but they don't even slow down. I almost was broadsided by someone coming into the roundabout at about 50 mph. They never turned their head to even look. That happens on a daily basis. I get so nervous everyday. And yesterday I was in the center turning lane waiting to turn left and I was almost hit headon by a girl coming in the opposite direction and she was texting and her head was down and she veered right at me. I laid on my horn and she looked up and slammed on her brakes. Then she proceeds to give me the finger. Really. Some days I have panic attacks.

'Around here', it's an epidemic. Driving, walking, everyone (almost) always looking down............Couldn't be too good for their necks, eventually. (Starting at a young age and all). I'm guessing that very lucrative future professions would be hand surgeons (thumbs while texting) and neck surgeons.

Oh, and I'll add on Saturday I was stopped at a light and the kid in front of me was texting and the girl behind me doing the same, and she had a baby in the back seat. Too bad other drivers can't report them. Unfortunately, they won't do anything until it's too late.

Too many people on the road today. I live in a major city and even I have seen a big difference in the way people drive. Too impatient, driving habits brought in from other states with the influx of transplants here and add to the mix stupidity/texting/etc.
All in a day's worth of stress.

I cannot stand drivers who text, cannot tolerate them and will call anyone who texts and drives and IDIOT outloud. I have and I'm sure that's the last thing they think I'm going to say. I don't hold back.
Just like drunk/drugged drivers, too bad they don't just slam into each other.
