This could be from your childhood or your present location. Think about it.
******
I'd never given this any thought until watching a quilting program on PBS this morning. The episode originated from Jackson Hole, WY, and the owner/artist of the studio said that she was greatly color-influenced by two things: (1) her earlier life in California and exposure to the vibrant colors of the Hispanic culture; and, (2) presently, looking out her studio windows, the golds, oranges and browns ever present in the hills and mountains.
This really got me thinking about my love of greens and blues: my second home as a child was Golden Gate Park, full of cypress and pine trees & thousands of acres of grass and, of course, the great Pacific Ocean. Both of these were a big part of my life and I now wonder if this has rolled over to be a color-influence in my life.
How about you?

I think it depends on the person. I am a person who can't stand the CA beaches. Never did like them. I am not influenced by them in any way. Cultures, maybe a small bit. I like things other that what I grew up with so I believe it depends on the individual.

I don't think it holds for me. I am color-influenced by colors that make me happy, brights, pinks, yellows, aquas. I started life on a farm in the Midwest, so I should like green (corn) and white (snow), and I don't really feel a particular affinity to those colors. Guess it's not true for me!

I guess so. The first family home I remember had huge shag carpet in shades or red, orange, and yellow. The couch was also an ugly red and gold. The second family home I spent most of my childhood in was remodeled in the 70s and had avocado green carpet and goldenrod appliances. My bedroom had the avocado green carpet, yellow walls, and pastel wallpaper with a quilt pattern. I am not a fan of goldenrod, avocado green, red, orange, or yellow. When I was 14 and my parents let me redecorate my bedroom, I tore off the wallpaper and painted the room white, then ripped out the carpet and had it replaced with parquet flooring.
I have mostly positive memories associated with childhood and both homes, but I hated those colors then and still do today. I prefer bright colors like turquoise, purple, and coral and don't like muted colors like goldenrod or avocado.

Yes, I believe color-influence does play a large part in one's life.
To this day, I can not stand that "Minty Green Color". I associate it with being in the hospital as a child (several times). It was the color of the operating rooms, xray rooms, and all the bathrooms. I hate that color to this day. Hate it!
I am a lover of the color blue...So, is my husband (So that makes it easy). I grew up back east, the vibrant colors of fall have a very soft spot in my heart. I love the colors I chose to plant and are growing in my garden White, Blues, Light Pinks, and Lavander.
I lived in SF from 1979 thru 1990. I lived on Dolores Street right between 18 and 19th Street. My living room looked right into the center of the park. I cried like a baby, when I left. So, Golden Gate Park with all it's colors and the vibrant "Mission" are colors I will never forget and hold dear to my
.

I am. Fall is my favorite season and the colors of fall in the Northeast where I've lieved for most of my life are my favorite colors - to see, to wear, to decorate my home, to color my hair even!
But it's a chicken or egg story. I have no idea which came first - my love of the colors or my love of fall.

Perhaps I don't care for yellow/brown because my grandpa's teeth were stained from smoking.

OMGOODNESS YES!
Sometimes I think I have a learning disability because auditory is so poorly developed and visual is my path to learning/retaining.
Textiles and photographic colors can lift my spirits!
When I taught, my good friend would be the listener in a professional development seminar and I would be the note taker. Her retention of a lecture would be complete and immediate; however, sometimes she would note "well, ask her (what those numbers were), she wrote them down! LOL
The earth and nature gives us so many gifts to cherish!

I love warm neutrals plus yellows and oranges. Guess that is good for a Maize.
