Oh, boy...what an ordeal that must have been!

I have O pos blood but I have never been a mosquito magnet. Just the opposite! I have seen them land on me and just fly off when others around me are being bitten.
I have encountered a few breeds that will bite me. Not many.

We're all different, and I'm sure that they don't have all the answers yet!

I found out (I think from these boards a few years ago) that Avon's "Skin so Soft" moisturizer is excellent for repelling mosquitos. I have a couple of tubes at the ready.
So funny! I'm a garlic lover too...never thought about that as maybe why I repel mosquitos!!
I have extremely dry skin and so I bathe EVERY DAY in Avon Skin so Soft and yet still get very mosquito bit. It does not work - that is an old wives tale. However, it is a great moisturizer.

I can be sitting beside 10 people, and the mosquitoes will make a beeline for me. I couldn't understand it before, until I learned that some people really are more prone to mosquito bites than others. yeah, I feel reallllly special. off isn't that effective on me, and citronella candles can only do so much, yet I use them both. makes me feel proactive. but I've found that when I get bitten, applying a cream with eucalyptus or mint, can make the itching stop. it brings such relief!

@freakygirl, I've read that it helps to put out a fan near where you are sitting as it blows the mosquitos away. Makes sense...might be worth giving it a try. I never could stand the smell of those citronella candles.

I've always heard about this, but I do not know because I do not go outside in the evening hours without mosquito repellant, especially since West Nile Virus and Zika came to my area.
My sister always had a lot of mosquito bites growing up, but she ALSO insisted on playing by the creek where mosquitos laid eggs and didn't use bug spray. Because she was engaging in higher risk behavior than the rest of us, we couldn't be sure if she was more attractive to the mosquitoes by nature or it was just her behavior.

Sadly the little buggers are just waiting for me to come outside. I have citronella candles all over the back porch and deck plus a plant that is supposed to repel them. It works pretty well. I have used Deet but am not really comfortable doing so.
