Re: Are You Feeling Depressed

Staying alert and informed more than being depressed. Fortunately, I don't know anyone personally who's been diagnosed with virus. Feeling a combo of blessed and concerned more than anything.

Hubs is an extrovert. Newly retired. Over 65 and getting cabin fever. He wouldn't do well in prison. Has to keep moving or he climbs walls. Gyms are closed and some of his social gatherings have been halted temporarily. I caught him waving at the UPS guy. Hubs met him at the mailbox. I hope and pray hubs hasn't been standing in the cul de sac leaning on mailboxes while I've been at work. His parents are 85 & 90 at a local, active care center but he won't be visiting them for a while. We're trying to have a (semi) self quarantined mindset. Campus will be closed through April 6th so I'll be home from work as well -- on call. Sanitizing campus and weighing options. Online teaching.

I think I've crossed into a troubling territory now because of worry about family members and their individual challenges and problems because of all the mandates as well as the threats to well-being -- and myself.

Yes, I believe in preparing for the worst, but in my heart of hearts, I am hoping for the best outcome.

Yes, I want this over with and everyone to be healthy and happy when it leaves -- not after three months, or four weeks or even two weeks.  I want it outta here in a week!

Yes, and our grandparents and parents did so much for us personally. It's our moral imperative to keep them free from this virus as much as we possibly can. Our turn to be selfless the way they were.

Read about Corrie Ten Boom's life or Dietrich Bonhoeffer.  Then realize what a wonderful life you have and how many people go to missions abroad and die so that others can hear the Word or how many die on foreign battlefields so you can sit here and whine about not being able to go to a party or whatever it is you are missing.

@Jordan2

No, I’m not at all depressed. I’m a bit angry that those in control haven’t moved quickly and are so indecisive. They are putting us all at greater risk.

I’m more concerned about everyone's health than eating out or being entertained. This entire country should be on lockdown by now. A few weeks ago would have been better. It is late in the game now.

It is good to see that most everyone here is not depressed. Unfortunately I deal with depression on a daily basis for many decades.

@golding76 Honey, we all do.  It's ok.  Just sit tight.  In three weeks you'll probably be in better "territory".  Smiley Happy

Re: Are You Feeling Depressed

ECBG,

I certainly hope I'll be in better territory in three weeks.  Thank you for the good thought.

I'm so worried about someone close to me.  Some of us, even if sensitive, are grittier than others.  Some are not able to handle change and challenge.  I'm not the best at those two but I hold on.
