I don't see how anyone reading these boards on a regular basis would think that seniors are happier.

I completely disagree with you. While poverty is certainly a sad thing -- money does not buy happiness.Happiness is internal not external.

@CJC, you are extremely blessed as I'm sure you know.  None of us can bring back years but you are prepared in all ways that are necessary for a worry free life.  Good health and financial stability make other things out of your control less important.

I have read after you have enough to meet your basic needs, more money doesn't make you happier. There are a lot of people, who have more money than they know what to do with that act miserable.

I live among almost all seniors and , believe me , this board is not a micro look at life as a senior. While all I ever read here is about illness and unhappiness when I go out into my community to do my volunteer work or to one of my clubs or socially we are having a nice time laughing and talking and we really enjoy each other's company.We rarely discuss illness or unhappiness etc that gets discussed here - we are out to have a pleasant time and that is what we do.

I completely disagree with YOU. If you can't afford medical care, your medications, a roof over your head, food in your stomach.... then what? MONEY provides this. No, it doesn't buy happiness but it does buy peace of mind via choices. How many people do you know who are in a state run facility or home suffering; living under a bridge in their 70's and up/ begging on the corner for food that are happy? Tell them that money wouldn't bring them "happiness".

Only on QVC forums would a thread be started asking if seniors are happier, and posters then go for the jugular about the definition of happiness.

I've also read that seniors are supposedly happier, but after reading the thread "Talking To Very Unpleasant Old People"  in the Among Friends section, I don't know what to think!   Yikes!    LOL

There are just as many unpleasant younger people
