Even when you don't answer they call again. I know this because I recognize numbers that appear several times a day.
The number is BLOCKED, but the calls continue.
Yes, I don't hear it ring, but it does not deter them from calling.
Lately, I've gotten repeated calls from something that just shows up as 800 Service.
I have room to block 250 calls and it does get full eventually. Then, I just delete them all and start again.
It's a never ending battle.

The part I don't get is, if most of us are not responding favorably to these calls (that's putting it mildly), then who is? How can they think when we go through so much grief to get rid of them that harassing us further will get us to part with our money? Is it because there are a few older or confused people out there that still answer and fall for these scams?

Maybe they have a monetary interest in the companies that manufacture the call-blocking devices?

@2blonde ... Yes, I know a couple people who are very impulsive and just have to answer the phone every time it rings. My mother has dementia and is getting that way. Fortunately, it takes her awhile to get to the phone. By that time, we have usually reached it and make sure that she doesn't answer.

@Yardlie Yes, you're probably right, of course. That just makes these people about as lowlife as sewer rats in my book. I really hate anyone picking on old people, kids, or animals.

@2blonde ... I'm right there with you in abhoring people who take advantage of the elderly, children, or animals.

Some people only use cell phones and that's what is good for their comfort level . However, I feel more secure with a land line phone The cell phone always has to be charged as well as concerns about brain cancer. In addition , my husband and I both have cell phones for when we leave our home. Unfortunately, he is getting at least a couple of spoofing calls per day. It seems the cell phone is not the answer.

I block, I Nomorobo, I have an answering machine, I don't answer if the call does get through and I don't recognize the number, etc.
BUT when I want to mess with them:
"County Sheriff's office -- do you have an emergency?"
Bwaaahaaahaaaahaaa

@ID2wrote:Wow, since I dropped my landline phone, many, many years ago, I just don't get ANY spam calls. None. I just don't understand those that still use a landline phone and don't like all the spam calls they get. There is a solution.
We maintain our landline. We live in a small town and folks still look up local numbers to call local folks. I always grab our phone book before resorting to online searches because it’s quicker than typing in a name and address and waiting for a screen to load.
Also, our security system is linked to our landline. We could have it switched over but this can require periodic updates and the landline works fine without having to deal with that.

Landlines are required by many Lifeline services. Some of those services are available as a wireless connection but that is not an option for low-income and Medicaid customers yet. Landlines are their only option right now.
