Re: Anyone Getting This Type of Spam Call--Cannot Block!

@LonestarBabswrote:

I block, I Nomorobo, I have an answering machine, I don't answer if the call does get through and I don't recognize the number, etc.

BUT when I want to mess with them:

"County Sheriff's office -- do you have an emergency?"

Bwaaahaaahaaaahaaa

@LonestarBabs ... That's really humorous! I have a great niece who is 14 years old. When they get those calls, she picks up the phone and talks in a baby voice so that she sounds like a two year old. She coos, gurgles, and babbles away. The caller asks to talk to her mommy or daddy, and she babbles "Da, da, da, da, da.... and frustrates the caller so much that they end up hanging up!

Wow, since I dropped my landline phone, many, many years ago, I just don't get ANY spam calls. None. I just don't understand those that still use a landline phone and don't like all the spam calls they get. There is a solution.

We maintain our landline.  We live in a small town and folks still look up local numbers to call local folks.  I always grab our phone book before resorting to online searches because it’s quicker than typing in a name and address and waiting for a screen to load.

 Also, our security system is linked to our landline.  We could have it switched over but this can require periodic updates and the landline works fine without having to deal with that.

Landlines are required by many Lifeline services. Some of those services are available as a wireless connection but that is not an option for low-income and Medicaid customers yet. Landlines are their only option right now.

@SilleeMee, I didn’t realize that so I’m glad you mentioned it!  We also still have a landline at my parents old farmhouse. There’s no cell service at the house. We have to walk down the road about a half mile to get service. ☹️

My landline han't worked for months, maybe a loose wire, and it has been so peaceful, the phone never rings.

I agree that landline phones are important if you have a security system or even medical equipment in some instances.

We get weird calls, too, like all zeroes. we have a panasonic phone and I looked up the instructions on how to block odd numbers. I don't answer these calls, either, but I hate it when they call three and four times in a row, so that's why I block them.

Around here they've got a way of robo calling that shows up on caller ID as a local cell phone # or a local exchange.  Now THAT'S ANNOYING!
