I'm in southern Calif and never heard of Sclafani. I mostly shop Costco (on-line) and they don't have many choices of items/brands. I'm Jewish and love everything Italian.If anything says "Italy" - I'll buy it. No one can go around hungry -- if they have pasta and sauce.I always put a little pasta on my dog's food - she also loves it (without the sauce).

@Snowpuppy I saw a cooking segment the other day where a chef was talking about making pasta and how easy it is to make the dough with a food processor with the blade.  He didn't specifically mention the semolina flour normally used in pasta  though (which could also be an issue finding) but he did also mention something about something to make the shapes although if you work at it you can probably make a lot of them even without a pasta roller.  

I have the meat grinder attachment, but haven't invested in the pasta attachment.

I have fettuccine and if we lived close, I'd give you a box. I know it gets frustrating. 

I get migranes and when I get sick at my stomach with them, I use to take a promethazine with some diet cherry 7 up and it seemed to help. We haven't had diet cherry 7 up in these parts in several months. I'm surviving. At least we have toilet paper and bread. And vittles for the animals

Any luck with Amazon? My wife got some type of pasta from them yesterday. Think it was more because of its price compared to, I think, target.

It really does matter both in terms of the taste of the recipe and the outcome.  And Italian pasta uses a different wheat--semolina.

Egg noodles are not the same, though I like and use them as well, but not in the dish the original poster referenced.

one of my main charities is a local food bank that i give to monthly......no one should be hungry or unable to find a nutritious and delicious meal.

no pasta shortage here that i have noticed.......we also have a number of italian stores that carry good brands of pasta.

i see a number of different pastas available on amazon......via prime, fresh, whole foods, and pantry.

People usually berate the Original Poster whenever someone starts a thread about noticing a shortage at their local store. They really dig in and yell at the person about starting hysteria and encouraging hoarding. Haven't seen any of it here yet, so I'm glad I was wrong to be concerned about it this time!
