How do you feel when you are offered a new job?

Whether this is vanity or not (I hope not)

I feel just tickled pink!!!

well, when my first child was born.  perfection.

i was in nyc with a friend and we went into a shop and the salesman asked if i was a movie star.  that made my day!

when i was juggling 5 men at one time.  not easy to do and men seem to do it all the time.  i felt powerful.  i didn't keep it up too long though.

Re: An unusual question I'm asking for deets

When I took my infant daughter out to the mall and people stopped me( a small crowd gathered) because they said my daughter looked like the Gerber baby. I overheard someone saying "Well no surprise, just look at the mother." I never forgot that. It was one of the greatest compliments I have ever received.

Another time was right after my son was born and my husband looked at me and said "We did it." I have never seen him so elated and full of joy... After a previous miscarriage, we were gloriously happy for the birth of our son.

Re: An unusual question I'm asking for deets

I remember one afternoon when I was going through a terrible breakup and was really depressed. I was sad about losing the guy, but more importantly I was sad because I thought my life was heading one direction and suddenly it wasn't anymore.

I was driving home in the rain and listening to Peter Gabriel's Secret World. (The US album was a great catharsis for me during that breakup.) As I rounded a corner and crested a hill, the sun came through a cloud and hit the windshield while my favorite part of the song played. For just a moment, it was bright and I could see every drop of rain falling from the sky in the sunlight. My life had been so dark and suddenly the light was pouring in through the rain. It was a beautiful moment of clarity and felt like perfection. I knew everything was going to be okay.

Re: An unusual question I'm asking for deets

Mine are those rare moments when I think that now I could die and be happy. One, oddly enough, was in a bar where my son-in-law was playing with his tribute band (it's his hobby).

A woman insisted that my non-dancing-forever husband dance with her. She persevered. My husband was rescued by our daughter, who took the woman's place.

I watched as they danced, two who love each other dearly but have had their ups and downs. I just thought it was perfection. Of course, a few drinks did help that along.

But another perfect moment etched in my brain is when a local group managed to fight and win against an oil company who wanted set up camp and drill in our tiny beach town. We fought so hard but had no polls to show how we were doing.

Election Day: We won in a landslide. That weekend we all celebrated at one resident's house on the beach. I will never forget our lifting our glasses in amazement and gratitude for this David and Goliath moment in time.

P.S. Seems both of my examples somehow involve a little bit of "cheer." Smiley LOL

Re: An unusual question I'm asking for deets

One moment that I remember clearly, is when I finished nursing school. I attended college just a little more than an hour away from home.  I had already moved my stuff out of the dorm.I got up that morning as nervous as I could be about that big final (and nursing school had been hard!!!).  I threw my suitcase in the car and headed out to take that final so that when I finished I would drive home and be finished with school.

I whizzed through that exam and was so relieved!  It had rained that morning while I was in class taking the final.  Driving on the way home, the dark clouds somewhat moved through and these beautiful rays of sunshine just started to peak through these clouds and spill all over the place. It was stunningly beautiful.  I remember feeling like I was on top of the world.  I had finished school, had a job lined up to start in a week, and was engaged.  What a feeling!

The others were when my children were born.  I was on top of the world those days as well.

[ Edited ]

I feel that way every day in my classroom.

It's my happy place.

Even on the less than awesome days.

I know I'm there for a reason and I feel absolutely sure that I'm exactly where I need to be, doing exactly what I need to do.
