@Lilysmom

How is your foot? Did you get your cast off yet? At Thanksgiving we both had them! I got mine off a week ago after 11weeks. I now have a boot which I've had for a week. I go back to the doctor next week and from what I'm feeling, I think my fracture is back. Hope you're doing better than I am. I'm really tired of not being able to do anything!😉

It must be hard not being able to drive for so long!

@Starpolisher@ValuSkr, my cast came off December 13.  I went to physio and am now doing strengthening exercises for the bone in my foot.

I can't believe you had a cast on for 11 weeks.  I was non weight bearing for 7 weeks, cast on for 5.  This was my second break, the first in April 2014, the second in 2016.  I had the boot on for 8 weeks before the cast.  My ortho doctor doesn't think much of the boot.  He says complete rest is necessary for healing.

I hope you are wrong @Starpolisher about the second break.  It takes a long time to feel normal again.  The first time, it took me 8 months to feel normal again.  I am on my feet a lot and that doesn't help.  This time I am being extra careful about getting active.

Let me know how you progress.  I will say a prayer that you are just having a sore foot instead of another break.  LM

PS @ValuSkr, it was my left foot so I could still drive thank heavens!

@Lilysmom

That's great! I'm glad to hear you are doing so well!

I hope I'm wrong also but since I started walking with this boot, seems something isn't quite right. I had a cast on for eleven weeks, all non weight bearing and it's my right leg. Thank goodness for dh because I haven't been able to do much of anything since October. The holidays have been very challenging.

The reason I had the cast on so long is because when I first broke my ankle I walked on it for two weeks...ouch! I first felt it on a Sunday. Thought it was arthritis or something and it would go away. Monday it still hurt. Tuesday I went to my family doctor. I told her that it felt like a fracture to me. She sent me for an x-ray. Got x-ray back on Thursday and was told that there was no break just a lot of swelling. Told that it was probably a sprain and to use conservative treatment.(ice, heat, wrap, elevate, etc.) I did that for another week with no relief. Then I decided to see an orthopedist regardless of family doctor and x-ray results. I was certain it was a break. I was right!

On Tuesday, January 17, I go back for checkup after having this boot for two weeks. I hope it's okay. I had an appointment for pt but decided to cancel it until I see what the x-rays show. Thanks for keeping me in prayer, I can use it!😉

Glad you're up and about!

@Starpolisher, yes the holidays were low key here also mainly because of the injury.

When I broke my foot, I kept walking also.  An Xray never showed my break either time.  An MRI picked up the first break.  I didn't need an Xray to tell me the second time what happened.  The second time, I kicked a water logged soccer ball.  Didn't know it was water logged.  OMG, I was so mad!  Anyway, now I am treating my feet like a national treausre😩.  No more abuse.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you at this appointment.  My ortho never recommended physio but I made him give me a referral as I am very active and wanted to get back into activity in a safe manner.  It has helped quite a bit.

Let me know how you do with the doctor.  I will say, if you don't already know it, the road back to normal is a long one so increase your activity slowly.  LM

PS, Yikes, just seeing it is an ankle, not a foot!

@Hooty, thanks for the good wishes!  Things are going well.  I am starting back walking slowly.  We had a big rain which took almost all our snow away and it is 8 Celcius today (47F).  I am almost itching to get into the garden lol!

Happy New Year!  LM
