Now people don’t seem know why there might be sexuality concerns to address in our communities?

@DrythePretty sure their questions have nothing to do with child abuse but about transgenders and medical cost of transitioning, insurance denials and cost for the lifelong hormone pills required.  JMO

I would be intersted in learning more about what you have posted.  I would appreciate it if you posted any websites where I can find some facts about these questions on the aforementioned survey.

JMO - Pretty sure those questions came from you.

I looked the questionnaire up on line and saw no thoughts along the lines you mention.  wow!

Re: American Community Survey 2021?

I saw nothing about sexuality.

All I saw asked for the gender of each household member nothing else.

@agb80, there are no such questions on the american community survey 2021.  At all.  The survey is available online and anyone can look at the survey.

They use this type of survey with random selection of so many people to get a better indepth picture of population density, relationships of household members, employment area, etc.

Hospitals in particular will use the data to look at how well they are poised to meet the needs of their surround community members, depending on age & other characteristics of the surrounding population.  Grant writers also access the aggragated data for statistics that can help support the need when seek grant money, etc.

Re: American Community Survey 2021?

A quick google search shows that Harris (VP) and Carper (Delaware) introduced requirement of data collection for the American Community Survey pertaining to sexual orientation and gender identity....to direct billions of dollars in funding each year.

Paraphrasing here, found this on American Psychological Assn webite.  Saw a few other links, also.  Don't know how legit any of the sites are.

The survey will ask what type of relationship person#1 has with person #2 living in the same household.  In terms of orientation, that information is necessary for possible funding and resources related to possible disease states or assistance with medications such as protease cocktails in certain areas.

Also if a  research study is looking to study a certain impact of a strategy and how well it works with divorced women, that aggregate data can be accessed so they know to advertise their study in an area  with a hgher concentration of divorced women versus another area that tended not to have as a high concentration of divorced women.  Just using that as an example.

Population density information from the census was also used to determine distribution for an estimate of  the inital doses of covid-19 vaccine to areas.  People that didn't complete the census may have undercut the supply of vaccine to their area if they didn't have correct information due to people not completing the census.   There are all kinds of ways that the aggregate data is used.

Re: American Community Survey 2021?

Thanks for that additional information,  @Lucky Charm .

The Frederick, Maryland "News-Post" had an interesting  piece back in 2014 on a Maryland couple who were declining to fill out the American Community Survey, citing the invasive nature of the questions, and privacy issues in general.

They were subject to phone calls from Census representatives raising the specter of jail time as well as fines--   a representative later had to concede that jail time would not be an alternative.

The couple were reviewing their options, including consulting with the ACLU.

Hoping the 2021 questionaire has eliminated any offensive questions that were on the 2014 survey.
