American Community Survey 2021?

Hi, Last year 2020 I received a questionnaire to fill out and I think everyone had to do it. I did it and sent it in. Now last week I received an United States American Community Survey to fill out either online or they said they will sent a paperform in the mail. I went on line to see what the questions would be and it seems just like the form I filled out late last year but added questions about sexuality.

Has anyone else received this form? I am so afraid it is no legitimate and would be giving out info to someone else. You can't be to careful today with all of the Fraud going on. It does say U.S. Census Bureau Washington, D.C. bottom signed by Steven D Dillingham. Thanks

Here's what it says online: The American Community Survey is a legitimate survey conducted by the CensusBureau. Unlike the every-10-year census, this survey continues all year, every year. We randomly sample addresses in every state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

I'm not sure I'd complete it though.

@cuddlesmama - I did not receive any type of form to fill out last year. The only thing done was the Census information and that was done online.

I would toss it.

If you were able to find the information that it's a legitimate survey then you also would have read that it's required to fill it out.

What happens if I don't fill out the American Community Survey?

Those who decline to complete the survey may receive visits to their homes from Census Bureau personnel. Because it is a mandatory survey, it is governed by federal laws that could impose a fine of as much as $5,000 for refusing to participate. To date, no person has been prosecuted for refusing to answer the ACS.

My thoughts....if not required by law, I do not fill out anything.

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

I just searched this survey online and it looks like a valid survey, required by law with a penalty for noncompliance. Having said that, this is the first time I've ever heard about it. I don't think we've received it but, depending on what it looked like, we might have thrown it away thinking it was a scam. If the Census Bureau wants to send someone to our house to obtain our input, so be it.

I never received the Community Survey in the mail. No one has ever come to the house to obtain information, either. The only one I filled out was the original Census online.

The last time I got one, I started to fill it out. Than it began asking for numbers I didn't know off the top of my head and would have had to look up, like amounts paid for property taxes and for heating bills. I set it aside and never came back to it.
