I've ordered from Amazon on and off quite a bit, but always that it directly ships from Amazon. I just don't trust third party sellers.

Today my @Kachina624  Cottonelle TP showed up from Amazon (very happy and exactly when they said it would be here!) but what was different was the entire big cardboard box was enclosed in a plastic bag. I've never had the before on any Amazon order.

Is that a new process for them?

It was delivered by the UPS guy, so maybe the plastic bag is something they are adding now?

@rms1954

Not sure what happened in your order from them. I have been ordering for years from them, but have never cancelled an order. Sent a few back, but never cancelled.

I ordered a yard hose from them Tuesday, and it was delivered today. Now we have been Prime members for years. During this "shutdown", our order numbers have been about the same. We have had only 1 order, it was not a Prime product, that took 5 days for delivery. If not Prime, some orders take longer.

I have gotten many emails from Amazon about orders placed, and when they were shipped. I have never in any of our orders seen a "preparing to ship" notice, nor have I seen, "order in process". We get email stating "order placed"/"order shipped", along with "estimated delivery date".

That has been my many years experience with Amazon. Now the Q? My wife placed an order, not back ordered, on May 4th. She is still waiting.

I have given up ordering from Amazon but there were some shoes I couldn't resist buying from Zappos.  Now, I know they are owned by Bezos but I didn't use my Amazon log in which was an option.  Instead I used my Zappos log in and lo and behold they arrived 2 days later in an Amazon Prime Van.  If I'm not mistaken Zappos typically delivered by UPS.  Anyway, I got them super fast!

No.  Just that they would notify when shipped.

Every product page on Amazon identifies the shipping date.  Some go into July and August.  I've never seen a product page that doesn't identify the shipping date.  It's also shown by each product in the cart.

Yu think with all the money Amazon has they could run a better ship during the pandemic.   Jeff bezoar is reeling in the dough from this pandemic, and yet the service is below par.   With all the hubs they have, you wild have thought they could at least hire people to answer phones.  But they depend on other countries for most of their CS, and now they hae hardly anyone manning the phones.  It is an at home job, Jeff Bezos couldnt think of this.   I have ordered from many companies during this pandemic, the worst delivery and frustration with speaking a person being amazon and QVC  .   I Amseriously considering trying t cut ties with amazon.  I tried again today, no phone or and no chat ... try again later  I have Been  dealing wth a problem with them since March 12.  I can probably get charges reserved via my card with amazon, but they can't get a hold of them to try settle issues ..

I can see it being hard to get service with civil unrest, but it has been this way since before unrest.

@shoekitty  You're right about Amazon having a lot of money - Read that they just donated $10M to certain organizations.

@rms1954   I can tell you that depending on what you ordered and without not thinking about where it's coming from, your order may be on that slow boat from China. You could be waiting 2-3 months before you get your order.

Right off the bat, I'll say we love Amazon. We've been Prime members for years and place orders several times a week. Most of our orders are Prime, shipped from Amazon. These are delivered within 2 days of placing our order, if not sooner. The pandemic delayed deliveries up to a week, but things are back to normal now. I sometimes order from a third party vendor (where it says "see all buying options"). In those cases, I only order from vendors who have a 95% or greater satisfaction rating. They give you an estimated delivery date/range and notify you when the item has shipped. Most of the time, the item ships earlier than the estimate. We've returned a few items over the years and it's a pretty seamless process. On the rare occasion that we had a problem, Amazon customer service was great at resolving the problem.

I rarely order from Amazon.  Ordered two small items 13 days ago.  Kept waiting for ship confirmation and each time I checked it I got the message that they were "preparing to ship."  So I waited and checked each day -- same thing.  I finally decided to cancel.  Hit the cancel button and got the message "preparing to ship, if you cancel now we can't guarantee the cancellation."  So I hit continue to cancel.and immediately received an email stating cancellation was successful.  Used to hear how great they were.  Now not so sure.  And yes, I know the current situation but when you place the order they should at least let you know there may be a delay and how long it might be.

@rms1954   Always try to order "Sold and Shipped by Amazon".

My recent orders arrived the next day.

Some of these third party vendors are not selling their own products; they are middle people buying quantities of known brands to mark them up to make a few extra $$.  Their customer service isn't always the fastest.

If you are buying a name brand, look at the "Sold By" tag- if it says the company of that item, you should be good to go.

"Sold by Amazon" and/or "Sold by (insert brand name vendor)" is the best way to go in my experience.

I order from Amazon all the time.  I get excellent service. Sometimes delivery is delayed but they always notify me. No complaints from me!
