I was a member for a year and just recently got my money back for an automatic renewal.

I didn't use it, don't have a Kindle, and when I read the owner bought a secondary house for over 22 million I decided I wasn't going to support him.

If I order something online, I will wait, it will come, it's not like I need anything the same or next day.

I have really changed my spending habits and just analyzing everything, what I really need, want and would like.

Just taking a breather and prioritizing.

Anyone else?   It doesn't have to be Amazon, could be anything else and maybe I missed something.

@Mistreatedbycs - It sounds like you didn't need Amazon Prime in the first place.

I canceled cable TV several years ago & after a year or two of very limited & poor reception, I got Amazon Prime for the free TV shows and movies. That alone was worth the price of admission for me.

I don't buy more than I would have w/o Amazon but I no longer have to wait until I have enough items to get free shipping.

I do have a kindle and I like the free ebooks but I could use those w/o a Kindle using an app on my iPhone or on my desktop. Actually, using both of those convinced me I would like a Kindle.

What I am working on is streamlining what I have at home - getting rid of all the unnecessary stuff, finding better ways to organize what I need/want to keep. I'm being more careful about what comes into my home - Finding things that are multi-taskers. Even the process of doing this helps me feel good!

I have been a Prime member for about three years. I am very happy with the product selection and the service.  I recently finished watching the first season of Amazon's "Z" series on Amazon Video.  I am looking forward to watching the third season of the Bosch series very soon.  When I first joined Prime, I watched 95 free episodes of the Good Wife within about a six week period (I never watched it on CBS).

Jeff bought/saved the Washington Post a few years ago.  He is a very civic-minded billionaire.  I enjoy using Amazon Smile which allows me to direct some of Amazon's money to charities of my choice via my product purchases. His love for the printed word brought e-Books into our everyday lives.  I bought a Kindle when it was first introduced, and I now use the Kindle app on all of my devices. I'm glad he bought Audible a few years ago (Kindle-Audible combos are great).  B&N had an audiobook download service, but they dropped that a while back.

@rustee - I watched the same shows as you - and also never watched The Good Wife on regular TV. Can't wait for the new season of Bosch!

I've had Prime for years but I can totally see how it isn't for everybody.  Choices - always good.  Smiley Happy

For me - I definitely get my money's worth.   This last year I got something (an email maybe?) that outlined how much I saved on shipping, etc, for the last year and, even though I am fully aware that I order a LOT from Amazon I was shocked.  It was many times what I pay per year.  Plus, I enjoy some of the other benefits.

I shop around, because they won't always have the best price.  But they sure do most of the time.  I buy a huge variety of things from Amazon.  It's amazing considering that when I first joined in 1999 it was pretty much media - music, books, shows/movies.   Now you can find just about anything there.

Their customer service is absolutely stellar.  I can think of few companies that are even in the same category of excellent customer service.  That's always important to me.

I am also a fan.  I live in a vast retail wasteland, Walmart and Walgreen's are about my only shopping choices for staples like OTC drugs, CD's and books.  I save money on shipping , and there are darn few items I can't find on Amazon.  We have a smaller Walmart and they are constantly discontinuing products I use.  Drives me nuts.  Amazon to the rescue.

Prime is not just 2-day shipping.  Also unlimited streaming of really good original tv series (Sneaky Pete) and movies, Unlimited Kindle downloads, music, gaming, audiobooks, early access to lighting deals, and now unlimited photo storage, etc.  Just a lot more than fast shipping.

As for how much his house cost?  Not even on my radar.  Good for him.

Like many of you, I really like Prime Amazon.  I order at least once every ten days and sometimes more.  I really like the convenience and the product selection.  And they have great CS!  Have found some items at Amazon that the Q carries...and the A prices were better!!

I've been buying from Amazon since about 1996 ... and have had Prime since it started.  I have two Kindles - and signed up for Kindle Unlimited when it was offered.

I'm perfectly happy with Amazon.  I probably order at leat once a week.

Due to physical limitations,  I cannot browse in stores.   Just going to CVS and selecting a tube of lipstick would be a painful and exhausting major chore.   So Amazon Prime has been a Godsend for me.  It's worth every penny I pay for it... and more.  The speedy shipping is not an issue for me as I'm in no hurry; it's the convenience.

I'm able to get my dog food delivered right to my front door.  I've placed 4 or 5 orders in the last week.   Last month I ordered a large,  very heavy bakers rack which I intend to use in my kitchen.   At Amazon it was $40. less than at Overstock for the exact same thing,  and of course there was no shipping charge.   I'm a fan.

Kachina - could not agree more!!  I, too, have physical limitations that preclude my "going shopping."  I love Prime also because we live out in a more rural area, yet my "stuff" comes right to my door!

I've ordered everything from a $2 box of pasta to a $1500 RV satellite TV antenna!

I love the free Prime shipping, the free movie streaming, the free digital books, the good selections of items, and the GREAT customer service!

Me three. I understand that it's not cost-effective for everyone or that it's not "necessary" for everyone. But in my geographical, (not) available stores and merchandise situation, and my not wanting to make a 50-90 mile trip to purchase a few items or walk through warehouses situation, it's ideal. The Prime video, books and music are perks I enjoy, but Prime would be worth it to me regardless.

I might be able to buy one, or two, routine items for a few dollars cheaper (usually for what I buy, not - Amazon IS cheapest), but I honestly wouldn't bother to shop elsewhere to save $5. And there is the fact that I KNOW things will be delivered, 95% within days, and if anything goes wrong, their CS is easy and pleasant to deal with and there is no hassle.
