I've been a prime member for years and would hate to be without it. I order heavily from them. Amazon is the first place I look when I need something. I wish QVC would have a program like Prime.

I imstalled their app on my iPad and lately have been watching the first season of The Good Wife. It's nice to see those episodes again, back when the show was excellent. We don't have Netflix, Hulu, etc.  just plain old cable for us.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I love Prime. The free shipping is great. I've got a twenty plus pound laser printer coming today for free. I get a free Kindle First book each month. My Echo streams lots of Amazon Prime Music for me. I watch a fair amount of the streaming video content too. For those looking to cut the cable cord, Amazon is reportedly working on deals now to live stream cable channels.

I don't know what I did before Prime.

It has actually saved me money. I can order what I need and  avoid the impulse buys that always seem to happen when I'm in a store.

I use it for large items I don't want to carry home and also for smaller things, like K cups.

I love Prime, as I order fairly often from Amazon.  Most recently, I ordered a 25 lb container of ice melt.  Might have been able to get it cheaper at a big box store, but I'm a senior citizen.  By the time I loaded the container into my shopping cart, went throught the checkout line, loaded it into my car, etc., I found it much more palatable to me to have it delivered to my door.  It's arriving tomorrow (Sunday).  I find Prime to be well worth the money.

I think it is really personal

we don't watch a lot of movies/TV streaming.

I don't order as much stuff as I used to.  So when the yearly fee went up I didn't renew.

@beach-mom

I LOVE Amazon Prime!  We order a LOT from Amazon.  Here is what I do: find the product there/read the reviews/check for the lowest price/compare the price on "the bay"/Amazon USUALLY matches, but with no shipping and the fact that they can get the product here in two days, I always choose Amazon Prime

To be honest, I don't know that I use Amazon that much to justify the Prime shipping, but I probably break even. Shipping costs have gone up, so maybe I do better than that. What I do like is being able to go to Amazon and order just about anything I want and get 2 day free shipping. Sometimes Amazon prices cause me not to order because I also have Shoprunner and many sites offer free shipping over a certain amount.

It's nice to be able to order something small without worrying that shipping will cost more than the item.

Also, Amazon does have some movies and series that Netflix does not.

I think it is not worth it unless you really buy a lot from Amazon and would benefit from the free S&H. We don't so we chose not to get it.

@hckynutjohnCareful there. John.  Whether there's sales tax or not has nothing to do with Amazon -  and all to do with your own state's laws.

Shipping is good, but whether it's good for a specific person depends upon their buying habits.  For me, Amazon Prime shipping costs at least as much as QVC's shipping because I'm not a frequent buyer.

Heard a consumer reporter recently compare Prime's TV to Netflix and Hulu.  Prime did not win --and I know for me, it wasn't something I loved as a Prime member.

This is really one of those -  it depends upon where you live and how you live decisions.

That really depends on YOU- and your usage- yes, the best part (imo) is the shipping-- their interface on streaming tv needs work- very hard to find what you want to watch- no guide- you have to click through and I've contacted them many times- they always say they're working on it- but it's the same as when I signed up years ago.

This. When it was cheaper, it was worth it for the free shipping because my family all lives in another state and I ship all birthday and Christmas presents, plus the things I order for myself.

Now that it's more expensive, I don't think it's worth it only for the free shipping, but I do take advantage of the included movies and TV shows as well as my monthly book loan.

I have also used Prime Now, the one hour delivery service, to order some items when I was home sick and needed cold medicine and tissues. That was fantastic, but it's not available in many locations.
