Amazon Imposes Rules For Contract Drivers!

[ Edited ]

Amazon Imposes Rules For Contract Drivers!

Amazon reportedly imposed rules on its contracted delivery drivers dictating their social media use while also setting standards for their personal hygiene.

This includes but is "not limited to prevention of unpleasant breath or body odor, modest perfume/cologne, and clean teeth, face/ears, fingernails and hair," according to the company's policies for Delivery Service Partner (DSP), Bloomberg reported. Additionally, drivers are also supposed to abstain from any "obscene" posts on social media, according to the report.

The drivers are employed by independent businesses that have contracts with Amazon to transport packages as part of the DSP program. The program, launched in 2018, is now comprised of over 2,500 locally owned small business operators around the globe that employ tens of thousands of drivers.

They must be having some distasteful problems.  I'm sure these rules will go over like a lead balloon.  Probably kind of insulting for many drivers.

Yep...has to be a reason..

But I feel sorry for the poor drivers in Texas...picture a HOT summer day and here they are making all those deliveries, running in and out of the truck, perhaps some packages are heavy....so by the end of the day...they dont end up smelling like a bed of roses....Woman Frustrated

I just feel bad for them that they don't even have time to take bathroom breaks.

Pretty sad when you think of how much cash Amazon racks in, it seems that they would treat their employees better....That's why Im not an Amazon fan...

If the drivers are employed by an independent contractor, how is Amazon to know what the drivers are posting?  Besides, the delivery recipients don't know the drivers to know what they are posting either.  I have no idea what my mail delivery lady posts, or the different UPS or FedEX drivers post or even if they do post on social media. And I really don't care as long as they are doing their job.

Amazon is doing it this way in order to make money on the cheap.  These contract drivers will be independent and will charge accordingly.  They will bid these contracts as cheap as possible.  Have you ever known an independent contractor who did not obey the rules (for the first few months)?

Re: Amazon Imposes Rules For Contract Drivers!

I get packages from Amazon delivery people (in addition to UPS) most every day.

I have no idea what the delivery person looks like because all my pkgs are delivered to my door and left there.

I am notified about the delivery and always give a compliment to the driver, whomever he or she may be.

I guess Amazon could be concerned about negative comments on social media. They probably require something like the Non-Profit Charity Group I volunteer for---they required a list of all my social media accounts and part of the contract disclosed that they would be periodically reviewing them to make sure I complied with the Organization's Employee/Volunteer Guidelines....now whether they gave the company all their info thats another issue......or they probably just do a seach by name on Facebook etc...
