I never order anything within a month of a "have to have it" date. If I must then I go out and buy it.

It has happened to me maybe 3 times this year.  I don't appreciate it.  It happened to me last month.  It was 3 days late and an item I needed ASAP.

We often go away for a few days and up to two weeks at a  time.  I try to schedule deliveries while I am here.

It is a pain to have to get somone to take my package indoors because I am away.

It has only begun to happen recently.  I get a lot of deliveries from Amazon.

My adult children have their  packages delivered to my home...so I get several deliveries every week.

Most deliveries are on time, but some are delivered after 8 pm.

(Plus I'm tired of third party vendors not fulfilling the order with the described item.)

I will no longer order from third party vendors on Amazon. I also did not get the items I ordered.

I did not receive the items that were described AND I paid 5 times the amount the items cost. I bought 6. AND Walmart filled the order. Walmart was not the market that I originally ordered the items. Not sure how Walmart entered the picture. Guess it was  the market in San Francisco's idea.

I rarely had a delivery delayed until recently when Amazon started using USPS over UPS.  These are not orders that are transferred from UPS to USPS but shipped USPS all the way.

My USPS carrier has said locally they are so overwhelmed with Amazon packages that deliveries get backed up.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

@drizzellla I order from Amazon often.  Early on, I had a few packages that came in Walmart boxes, from where I don't order.  I noticed these items were not shipped by Amazon, but by a vendor that was not Amazon.  For those who do not know, Amazon has third party sellers in its website, many times offering deals too good to be true, some with absurdly high prices, and some are specialty vendors that want to sell through Amazon (Like Vital Proteins, other well known brands).  Some items are for sale by more than one seller, and the customer can choose.  The prices offered by different sellers for the same item are often different.  Some items sold by third party vendors are shipped by Amazon, others are shipped directly by the vendor.)

My theory is that there are vendors who find cheap items in Walmart, and make them available for sale on Amazon at a mark-up from the Walmart price, order from Walmart when we order, and  then ship to us directly from Walmart and and pocket the difference.  Just a guess.

It happens, but it's an exception to the usual delivery.

@Marp  That is how I lost my USPS carrier. He was one of the good ones who rarely made mistakes, but he quit for another position because he said the same thing. Every day they are overwhelmed by Amazon packages.

He was a long time carrier, but he said the sheer number of packages, plus the weight of a lot of them became, well again,  overwhelming.

They have put rookie after rookie on the route and they can't seem to do the job. They are aware they have a huge problem.

Something has to give.

I've been a Prime member since when they started and usually have at least several deliveries a week. Even when I'm on vacation ( 4 times a year at Pismo Coast Village) I still get deliveries ( they call me and I walk to General Store and pick up). Never had such great service from any other vendor!
