Last Saturday my sister went to our favorite bakery to pick up the Father's Day cake we ordered for the occasion. It was boxed up so she put it in the refrigerator and we left it there till Sunday evening.

We opened it up for my husband and beheld the cake we had ordered and it said "Happy Birthday!"  We laughed and laughed and laughed--what a surprise! We decided that for his birthday in August we'll order a cake that says, "Happy Father's Day!"

We told the gal at the bakery about it. She was very apologetic but we told he don't worry; our family loves a good joke.

@GoneButNotForgotten - I agree with @spumoni99! This will be a special day you won't forget.

My mom was an identical twin. They didn't live close to each other, but my aunt and uncle always drove down so they could spend their birthday together. They didn't have children, so it was easier for them to travel.

One year I was visiting and decided to get their cake. I picked it up without looking at it. We took it out to put on the table and saw "Happy Birthday Twines." We never let my mom and my aunt forget that and enjoyed sharing the story.   Smiley LOL

Yup, all you can do is laugh.  We celebrated Father's Day at my daughter's house.  My other daughter was bringing the cake, she ordered it from the best bakery in the area.  She picked it up early that morning and put it in a cooler in her car.  So, when she arrived and went to the cake out of the trunk.....it wasn't there.   It wasn't there because they drove down in her HUSBAND'S car, not hers.  So, we ended up with 2 Sarah Lee cakes from the grocery store.  Coconut and Fudge Stripe.  They were delicious.  My daughter took her expensive bakery cake to work the next day for her staff to enjoy.

Re: Father's Day--ha ha ha!

I just hope the lady for whom the birthday cake was ordered will think the Happy Father's Day cake she gets is as funny as you found it to be.  I sort of doubt she will.

@Kachina624 You're assuming something not in evidence. Most bakeries decorate them to order, so I doubt there was another cake. Good grief.

@Love my grandkids   If they decorated to order, why did they get a birthday cake for Father's Day?  It appears more likely they got two orders mixed up.  Good grief.

Good for your family not to get upset by an error.  Its good that your family made it a joke and turned it into something funny.  Keep up the good work.
