@06greatwife wrote:I worked at a small family owned stationary and office supply store a few years ago. At the very back of the store was the fine pen counter. I remember some of the pens cost upwards to a few hundred dollars. I was able to try out a few of pens and for the most part they did write very smoothly and felt good in the hand. Personally though if I did splurge and buy one I would probably have it for only a couple of days and then I would misplace it and never see it again.🖌💵 🙄🤦♀️
I remember once reading that the best way to stop losing pens is to buy a very expensive one ..... then you'll always be aware of where it was! lol Not sure if that actually works for most people, but when I received an expensive pen for Christmas, I DID make a point of knowing where it was, and never lost it. I still have it, about 10 years later!

We all have things we splurge on. To each his/her own.

@ALRATIBAWe don't have totally different values - I have plenty of those 10 cent pens - use something like that every morning as I work on my crossword!
But if I see nothing wrong with the price of the pens in question. I didn't buy them because I don't need that kind of gift, but if I needed such, I wouldn't have blinked at the price. What I'd spend on a pen so that I can do my morning crossword puzzle and what I'd spend if I want to give someone a journal and a pen, those are 2 very different things to me.

@VanSleepy wrote:I wanted a "fancy" pen to set on the table at a shower. I found a pretty pink one with crystals at the dollar store. Thank goodness all you had to write was your name because that thing was so uncomfortabe to use. I'll stick with my Bic Round Stic.
I bought a few of those pens. I use them to do word search.

@Daisy Sunflower I wouldn't be able to do a puzzle with that. It hurt :-)

@Tinkrbl44 Those are lovely but the currency is INR, not US dollars.
I still use a fountain pen.
I have a Charles Hubert pen that is a favorite (gift from DS).

I plan to buy my nephew a very expensive pen when he graduates from law school. In this instance, it'll be a "major milestone" gift.

lori has several sets of pens available. the ones with reviews have very good ratings. my guess is is that they sell a lot AND with good ratings, there are definitely people buying.....and happy with their purchases.

Admittedly, I am a pen snob. I have been gifted Mont Blanc and Tiffany pens, but I don't use them. I much prefer a very fine felt tip pen as my penmanship is a cross between calligraphy and printing.

My mother-in-law is an artist who paints and made a living as a calligrapher and illustrator so pens have played a big role in our family.
I got my daughter a beautiful pen when she graduated college, but for fun I think she'd love the pink & purple set with the crystal hearts and a pretty journal for writing down her thoughts or lyrics to a song. I guess writing can be done with most anything--a Ticonderoga and a scratch paper--but there's something wonderfully satisfying that comes from using lovely instruments.
I like that they have a cushioned grip for comfort so now the only question is do they work well. Thank you @sunshine45 for the reviews comment. If not, QVC has a great return policy.
